Solar and EV’s Mean Lower Bills For Everybody

Despite federal policy, the adoption of grid tied PV and electric vehicles (EVs) continues to surge in the US. Through the use of simple smart charging to determine the best timing, this can not only save the customer money but also can serve to stabilize the grid. PV systems help the grid by peak load shaving during hot summer days. Also, the grid-tied PV system avoids the 5-10% losses experienced in the grid transmission network by generating power at the point of usage....

What's solar got to do with ? Come find out at KitsapFest next Saturday, July 11th, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Silverdale Waterfront Park. The free, family-friendly community event — now in its 7th year — is presented by Live Well Kitsap and combines elements of a fair, festival, and expo to promote wellbeing awareness across the county.

Power Trip Energy will be on-site to answer questions about grid-tied solar for homes and businesses. We'll also be giving out solar bead bracelets to help people see the light that affects all of us, whether you have panels or not! Swing by our booth and grab a bracelet — we'd love to answer your solar questions!

Thank You to Our Preparedness Day Sponsors and Partners

Preparedness Day is about more than preparing for emergencies. It's about building a stronger, more connected, and more resilient community.

Whether we're facing severe weather, power outages, wildfires, earthquakes, public health emergencies, or unexpected challenges, preparedness helps ensure that our neighbors, families, and local organizations are ready to respond and recover together. Every conversation, demonstration, workshop, and connection made during Preparedness Day helps create a culture of readiness that benefits us all.

This event would not be possible without the incredible support of our sponsors and community partners. Join us for a free workshop at All County Preparedness Day:
"Solar and Storage for Power During an Emergency, Spinning Your Meter Backwards All Year Long"

11:00 AM | Saturday, June 27 | Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Chimacum

Andy Cochrane has been installing solar on the Olympic Peninsula since 2003. He will break down how solar paired with battery storage can keep your home powered during an outage — and how the same system saves you money on your power bill all year long. Bring your questions!

The workshop is part of All County Preparedness Day, a free community event with 30+ booths, hands-on resilience activities, and free strawberry shortcake. Find our booth afterward — we're the one with the Ford Lightning.

You Don’t Have to Do It All at Once

Last week, I stumbled onto one of the best reminders of why I love my job. A guy I’ll call “Luke” had gone solar in Hawaii, and he was telling people online that the cost of doing so here in the PNW would exceed six figures. When I gently pointed out that these systems usually run $25K–$35K, he said I had to add on the price of a new roof, batteries, and a new EV....
