Ahhh, September.
It's beginning to feel like Fall, my favorite season.
Fall has beautiful weather, which makes it one of the best times of year to plant. The temperatures are moderate, we're receiving adequate rain, and the ground is still very warm. Nurseries have plenty of supply, and you're likely to find some great deals too. Don't be deterred by tattered leaves. Many plants have sat in pots through a very warm summer. Well-rooted plants that have been cared for will thrive in the ground next year.
Planting now allows plants to grow roots well into November, while the temps slowly head downward. And Mother Nature usually takes care of watering for us ;)
Take a look around your yard. What's working? What isn't? What's a project to tackle next year?
We can help redesign problem areas to make them enjoyable spaces. Take pictures to help you remember when Spring 2021 comes around.
Keep enjoying this growing season. There's still alot of beauty in the garden to enjoy in Fall. The foliage of many perennials change to red, golds and orange just like the trees. Seed heads of spent flowers are not only ornamental, but may also provide food for birds and other wildlife.
2020 has been a trying year, but don't give up on it yet. There's plenty to enjoy outside...

I'm excited to be celebrating 20 years in business!
In April of 2000, I was ready to try my hand as an entrepreneur. I was lucky enough to learn from the best: a wonderful Northshore landscape company, and a comprehensive degree in Horticulture from MATC...and my own curiosity and strong work ethic, as well as being attentive to details. I started with a truck, a push mower and a hedge trimmer, and its grown from there.
I've met some incredible people along the way. From the homeowners willing to give an unknown young woman a chance, to those hard working college kids that came to work everyday with a smile and a great attitude, I've appreciated every one of you!
My moto has always been, I want to treat your yard as if it were my own. I cater to people looking for a quality job, well done, at a fair price. I will never be the biggest landscape company out there, by choice.
Here's hoping to another 20 years of smiling in the sun while I cut grass, prune shrubs, plant flowers, rake leaves and design and install landscapes that I can enjoy watching "grow up".

We LOVE cutting grass. Mother Nature is keeping everything green this summer. We love that too. :)

We almost always remove burlap and twine when planting. Today is a perfect example why. Were removing 20 year old shrubs today that never looked full or grew to their potential. Below you see the burlap and twine still entangled in the roots, and the roots are very sparse. Give your plants the best environment to grow in. If it wasn't there in nature, it doesn't belong there after planting.
Contact us if you need shrubs removed. We love doing landscape renovations!

MULCH! It looks great, refreshes your yard...but its TOO EARLY.
The soil temperatures are too cold to add mulch yet. Mulching now will insulate your soil, and keep it cold longer. Wait until perennials are about 4-6" tall, and shrubs are leafing out.
MAY is for MULCHING...and this year, probably late May.
Need Mulch? We deliver and/or install, when the time comes.
