I forgot to show y’all how the glove eared mule deer turned out!

He has been finished and is no longer in the shop but his ear turned out pretty good.

We really hate to do this but we have put it off for the last year…. Prices of supplies have gone up since we started the taxidermy shop. Unfortunately since that is happening we are having to change our pricing also. I’m working on getting a new price list put together and will get it posted soon. We are sorry to have to do this to everyone. If you need a price before I get it posted feel free to call or message.

We thank you all for your business and continued support.

Well, Elvis has left the building…

This elk was taken in September of 2024 in northwest New Mexico by a man from North Carolina. Jed and I were blessed to met Bob O’Brien while working on the Nichelini Ranch that fall. Bob was one of those old guys that instantly reminded you of a grandpa.

Bob postponed his heart surgery to drive to the Land of Enchantment for a successful elk hunt. He had asked Jed if he knew how to cape for taxidermy and Jed told him he did since his wife was a taxidermist. “Well, h-e-🏒🏒, I’ll just let y’all do it!”

I told Bob I had never taxidermied an elk and would hate to mess up something that big! His words to me were “ you’ll never learn if you’re not given the chance.” So he filled out some paperwork and sent the elk home with me! We had arranged for Bob to meet us back here in NM in November of 2025 to pick up his elk.

Sadly we recieved news in November that Bob was admitted into the hospital. Not long after he passed away.

After a few months we were able to talk to Bob’s wife, Barbara. She was trying to get the elk to North Carolina. She told us how she had named all the animals Bob had brought home over the years and were “Elvis” was going to be hung exactly were Bob had planned. We just ended another phone call with Mrs O’Brien and I have to agree with her, he’s up in heaven with all his hunting buddies sharing their stories having a great time.

The shop is a bit bare with Elvis gone but are so happy that Bob’s family will be hanging him in their home. I will continue to pray for Bob’s family and always thank him for the opportunity he had given me.
