Apparently my woodworking skills don’t automatically transfer back to sewing.

The dust collector bag ripped, so before it could coat the whole shop in sawdust, I grabbed a needle and thread.

I learned to sew as a kid and then again while studying technical theater in college, but it’s safe to say I’m a little out of practice.

The stitching may be ugly, but the dust stays in the bag—and that’s really the only judge that matters.

Function over fashion. Sometimes that’s how shop repairs go.

It’s always nice when someone takes the time to save original materials instead of sending them to the landfill.

These boards are likely over 100 years old and are about to start a new chapter, becoming part of the same space they came from.

There’s something satisfying about giving quality materials a new purpose while preserving a little of their history.

Looking forward to sharing what they become

Join me this Saturday at Résolu Cellars - Urban Winery + Wine Bar

I’ll be bringing a selection of handcrafted woodworking inspired by Oregon wine country—from cutting boards and serving pieces to barrel stave décor, engraved gifts, and a few new pieces.

If you’ve been curious about my work, this is a great chance to see pieces in person, ask questions, and chat about custom projects for your home, winery, or business.

Résolu’s Small Lot Sessions, will be featuring seasonal wine pairings, and guest winemaker Meg Rulli of Meg, Flipturn Cellars.

Stop by, say hello, and let’s talk woodworking, wine, and custom projects. I’d love to meet you and share the stories behind the pieces.

🛠️ Trivia Tuesday!

Every custom project starts with a pile of parts.

These are all going into a custom project I’m building for Satyre Fire’s new tasting room.

Before I start putting everything together…

What do you think I’m making?

Here are a few hints:

✔️ It’s built specifically for the space.
✔️ It’s both functional and decorative.
✔️ You’ll be able to see it in Satyre Fire’s new tasting room.

Drop your best guess in the comments! 👇

I’ll reveal the finished project when it is installed.

One of the final projects built in our Hillsboro shop.

Custom tasting room cabinetry and bottle display installation for Satyr Fire Winery, designed in collaboration with Quad Architect.

Built from CVG fir and walnut, the space balances clean geometric design with the warmth and atmosphere expected in a winery tasting room.

The geometric bottle storage, integrated service cabinetry, and layered material palette were all designed to become part of the tasting room experience — not just functional millwork, but part of the atmosphere of the space itself.

Looking forward to seeing the tasting room fully finished, stocked, and open to guests.

After a lot of planning, moving, organizing, and rebuilding… the new Barrel Craft Studios shop is up and running in Gaston, Oregon.

Every shop move is a mix of excitement and exhaustion, but having a dedicated space to keep growing the business feels worth it.

Looking forward to building more winery projects, tasting room cabinetry, custom furniture, wine storage, and laser engraved work in this new space.

Most custom cabinetry projects start with blue tape.

Before a single cabinet is built, we lay out the entire design directly on the wall so the client can see the scale of the project in real life.

For this winery tasting room project, the tape layout lets us dial in shelf spacing, balance the center feature, and make sure everything feels right in the room before fabrication begins.

Drawings and renderings help, but standing in the space and seeing it full size makes a big difference.

A little tape now can prevent a lot of changes later.

Next step: turning this layout into custom cabinetry for a winery tasting room
