We see trends in computing all the time, and one of the most frequent trends is between "fat clients" and "slim clients". Fat clients are desktop or laptop computers that are extremely powerful. Most laptops today would be considered fat clients. Slim clients generally require a connection to another computer to be truly functional. Given the way the Internet and technology in general is going, we seem to be heading towards slim clients again. This technology could help speed that transition.
