The leaves are changing. The mornings are darker. And somehow it’s still 75 degrees outside.

But you know it’s coming.

Before the rain, wind and freezing temperatures settle in, now is a good time to give your home a once-over.

We updated our Winter Property Preparedness Guide for 2026 with practical advice on gutters and drainage, crawl spaces, sump pumps, frozen pipes, water shutoffs and what to look for after a storm.

As fall settles in across the Pacific Northwest, cooler mornings and steady rain are a reminder that winter isn’t far behind.

We had a little fun with this year’s winter coat announcement for our field crews. But the Night King makes a good point: winter is coming.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, that means heavy rain, freezing temperatures, wind, and an increased risk of property damage. We’ll be sharing some practical tips soon to help protect your home or business before the weather turns.

The North(west) remembers. And prepares. ❄️

One night. That was the whole window.

This was an occupied commercial space, so the crew had until the doors opened in the morning to get the ceiling demo done. They contained the work so the rest of the building never felt it, and still finished four hours early.

And no, the video isn't sped up. They really work that fast. 😜

Restoration work doesn't keep office hours. Our crews show up at 2 a.m., in flooded basements and smoke-damaged buildings, to help people put their homes and businesses back together.

Our offices are closed Monday so (most of) the team can take an actual day off. Emergency crews are on call all weekend, same as always.

To everyone who does the hard work, here at Oregon Restoration and across our community: Happy Labor Day.

This summer, Oregon Restoration decided to join a coed softball league.

About 35 employees, partners, and family members signed up. We split into two teams, named them the Wet Sox and the Drip City Sluggers, and spent our Sundays realizing just how long it had been since some of us had thrown a softball.

Some of us had never played before. Others learned that slow-pitch softball is a lot different than baseball.

Maybe we didn't win a lot of games, but that was never really the point. We got outside, did something new, and spent our Sundays laughing. And most importantly, we got better.

Not a bad first season.

We will be back next summer, with more experience, a less leaky defense, and at least a working knowledge of the infield fly rule (does anyone have more than a working knowledge?).

We reached 500 five-star Google reviews in Portland!

We're proud of the milestone, but the number is only part of the story.

What stands out most when we read our customers' reviews are the details. A technician who took extra time to explain what needed to happen. A project manager who kept someone informed when the job got complicated. A crew that treated a damaged home and everything inside it with care.

Most people don't call a restoration company on a good day. They're dealing with water damage, fire damage, mold, or another unexpected disruption, and they need a team they can trust.

Reaching 500 reviews reflects the work of people across our company, from the person who answers the first call to the crews, coordinators, estimators, project managers, and support staff who help carry each project through.

Thank you to everyone who's trusted Oregon Restoration and taken the time to share their experience.

Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Oregon Restoration!

We hope your holiday is full of good food, family, friends, and fireworks that stay where they’re supposed to.

Before the fun starts, take a few minutes to check the basics: move the grill away from the house, wet down dry grass or bark dust, keep a hose nearby, and soak used fireworks before they go in the trash.

We put together a quick guide to help keep your home safe this holiday weekend:

Every restoration company says it’s the best.

That’s the easy part. The hard part is backing it up.

We ut together a practical guide on what to look for before hiring a restoration company, including what to ask on the first call, why the lowest quote is not always the safest choice, and how to tell whether a company is actually inspecting, documenting, and explaining the work.

Because “best” is not a title you can give yourself. You have to earn it.

Learn how to choose a restoration company after water, fire, or mold damage. Know what to ask before hiring and what warning signs to avoid.

Most homeowners think insurance claims are pretty straightforward:

Step 1. Something gets damaged.
Step 2. Insurance pays to fix it.
Step 3. The contractor does the work.

In reality, the process has gotten much more complicated.

Today, claims are heavily driven by documentation, scope, supplements, pricing, and how well the damage is managed from the very beginning. That’s especially true with water damage, burst pipes, mold, and other everyday property losses we see here in Oregon.

We put together a new article breaking down why claims are getting harder, why some fall short, and why the contractor you choose matters more than most people realize.

Insurance claims are more complex than ever. See why scope, documentation, and process determine whether your claim is fully paid.
