We have great relationships with outstanding partners in the Portland area. Portland Photographers Pat and Paul Buescher travel to the ends of the earth to photograph exotic birds. Flair helped create a mounting process and system with Pushdot Studios using high quality acrylic, backers and cleats for wall mounting. Will Vinton was an American animator and filmmaker. Vinton was best known for his Claymation work, alongside creating iconic characters such as The California Raisins. He was born in McMinnville Oregon and started Will Vinton Studio here in Portland in 1975. Flair Plastic Products started four years earlier in 1971 in Portland. We love crafting acrylic pieces that stand the test of time and show off the artists creations.

WHAT’S IN A NAME? At Flair Plastic Products it means we make things out of plastic. When you think of plastic, many kinds of products come to mind. For us, plastic is the material we buy in sheets, rods and tubes to make useful things for our customers.

Plastic is like the family name Smith. Just as some Smiths may be related and others just share the same name, so it is with plastic, a term that covers many different products that are chemically diverse. From lightweight, very thin acrylic to industrial grade materials, each with its own characteristic and best use.

At Flair we work with you to pick the member of the plastic family best suited to your needs. And if plastic is not the best material for your project, we will let you know.

When Tara decided to ditch the corporate life and open her cafe and bistro in Oregon City, she knew she could not do it alone. Besides her supportive friends and family, she sought out businesses that would help her create a wonderful, inviting space for great food and friendship. We at Flair were delighted to be part of the creative, helpful team that joined her in bringing her dream to life. For a restaurant to be successful, we knew that little tweaks in the kitchen could be the difference between an okay room for cooking food and a superior location for creating mouthwatering meals.

After meeting with Tara and her chef, we could see a few additions that would be beneficial. The flatpack cabinets needed stronger, flat bases that would allow the cabinets to slide away from the wall for cleaning. To keep busy fingers from accidentally descending the cafe into darkness, we added covers to the light switch panels. Custom storage bins, for items like tea bags, were designed to keep supplies readily accessible. Of course, every restaurant needs a myriad of drinking glasses. We created open, easy to clean shelving that fit in the existing space and that looks good and works well for staff.

We are proud to be part of the team that helped Tara launch Watershed Café and Bistro, 812 Main Street, Oregon City. The food is great, and the service is friendly.

It’s a new year, and you are disappointed you never got around to rewarding employees, coworkers or other awesome folks for their efforts. At Flair, we know awards are important and need to be special. Recognizing important folks requires a memento that stands out from the crowd and is much more impressive than those bowling trophies your dad brought home.

To give you some food for thought, here is one special award from the creative folks at Flair. Each member of the Milwaukie Golden Bats little league team received their own baseball card in an impressive frame. Our favorite creative guy, Chris Marron at Icon is also the best dad and coach. He designed the awards for his favorite kiddos. His inspiration? Early baseball card hobbyists from the late 1800s who sent in to***co coupons for a special large format premium cabinet card. The layout reflects the mid 1930s gum cards. The card is in a 2.5 dimensionally printed bat cave setting resulting in a stadium that ties the award in with the team’s name. The result is a layered and tactile art piece, which is meant to be experienced from the front, back, and the in-between space. The piece is made from 1/8” clear and 1/8” black acrylic with the interior laser cut to match the image.

The careful attention to depth, layering, and spacing allow the viewer to experience the multiple levels of this piece. The entire card was chemically welded at different stages for durability through the production process.

Each player now has a card of themselves as a keepsake and a wonderful memory of Chris’s dedication to both sport and art.
