The Chicago Bears, which now may be the Indiana Bears, recently announced that they’ll move to Indiana. If the Chicago Bears can play in Indiana, Portland can lose the Portland Trail Blazers.

Andrew Hoan was a part of the team that brought the New Jersey Nets to Brooklyn. To keep the Trail Blazers here, Portland must create a competitive package to modernize the Moda Center, which is the oldest facility in the NBA to have never had a major renovation.

We need City Council to present a package that keeps the Trail Blazers in Portland, supports our new WNBA team, attracts more concerts and events, and helps to revitalize the surrounding campus and Albina neighborhood for the community’s benefit. Oregonians and visitors will benefit for years to come.

Thanks KATU-TV for the opportunity.

City Council has opened a survey and listening sessions for Portlanders to weigh in on the renovation proposal.

Survey closes June 18: https://www.menti.com/alx87tdi92ai

Jeff Swickard, Kidder Matthews, and Unico Properties have been repositioning Big Pink to be the most attractive office building in Portland.

A panel discussion regarding efforts to revitalize the building offered these takeaways:

- Improving perception of public safety is key.
- Revitalization requires private investment and public policy support.
- Portland's negative mindset toward business is holding the city back.

The Moda Center renovation proposal isn’t just about the arena – it's also about how the City can support revitalization of the surrounding campus and neighborhood for the community's benefit. The Lower Albina neighborhood experienced historic displacement of Black Portlanders, which left the neighborhood without central community spaces, jobs, restaurants, or entertainment.

City Councilors need to commit to this proposal because both are critical: keeping the Trail Blazers in Portland AND growing opportunities for the surrounding neighborhood. If they can make it happen, Oregonians and visitors will benefit for years to come.

Thanks, KATU-TV for the opportunity.

Lavoratti 1938, an upscale Italian chocolate shop, chose to open their first U.S. storefront downtown! According to their store manager as featured in Portland Business Journal, they chose Portland because “the city is synonymous to a culinary innovation hub.”

Portland’s location provides “a perfect opportunity for logistic operations and Pacific market access,” she noted, while offering “lower operating costs than New York, San Francisco or Seattle.” We’re excited to see international business recognizing the strategic and commercial value of our city.

The City of Portland is hosting listening sessions in each of the four council districts and launching a community survey to get feedback on renovations to the city-owned Moda Center arena.

The Moda Center welcomes 200+ events each year and is the most visited venue in Oregon. The deal before city leaders leverages $365 million in state bond funding, reinvests arena-generated revenue back into the city-owned Moda Center, modernizes the facility, creates no new taxes for Portlanders, and supports restorative development of the Lower Albina neighborhood.

The window of opportunity is closing to renovate this facility before the 2030 deadline—when Portland hosts the NCAA Women’s Final Four. We need your help, now!

Take the survey. Show up at a listening session. Tell your friends and neighbors.
