Last week, Madeline Miller, director of commercial real estate and development for the Portland Metro Chamber Public Affairs Collaborative, spoke to KATU News about Prosper Portland's vacant storefront grant. Miller highlighted the larger issue: a lack of demand from businesses looking to occupy commercial spaces, with buildout and permitting costs creating an additional obstacle.

Ride your bike to this year's Portland Staycation! (Or scooter, take public transit, or use your own two feet!).

Pros: reduce your carbon footprint, work up a sweat, experience the thrill of bicycling, and avoid a major closure on I-5 South!

Portland's second-annual Summer Staycation returns September 11–13! This year's Staycation just so happens to coincide with a major closure of all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Portland’s Rose Quarter, which also begins September 11.

Don't let a highway closure stop you from enjoying your Downtown! If you're able, we encourage you to ride your bike or take public transit to the Staycation. We can't wait to see you there!
