Lights, camera, action … for clean water! The annual screening of student videos from Clark County, WA will showcase top entries across three themes all focused on the vital connection between communities and watersheds.

Join us, August 28 at Columbia Tech Center Park, to support all this year’s participants in the Students for Clean Water Video Contest and their collective message around protecting local waterways. Hosted by Stormwater Partners of SW Washington, we’re excited to continue sponsorship of this event and the organization’s overarching mission of improving water quality across the region.

👮 PROJECT UPDATE: A community that’s doubled in size since its police station was built has broken ground on a new facility with the space needed for their first responder services.

A public ceremony recently marked the first physical steps toward the St. Helens Public Safety Building becoming a reality. Expected to be completed by fall of next year, it will replace the current facility that’s been in use for more than half a century. Leading an effort by our owner’s representative group to guide its development, Alex Cettie delivered opening remarks at the event that brought together project partners—including architect Mackenzie, CM/GC Howard S. Wright, and MEP Engineers PAE—alongside local leaders.

This high-performance project won in two categories – Environment $5-25m and Sustainability. The City of Renton’s Monroe Ave NE Infiltration Facility, the largest of its kind in the state of Washington, provides water quality treatment and large-scale infiltration for 260.3 acres of stormwater runoff to reduce flooding in vulnerable areas of the Renton Highlands neighborhood and protect the Cedar River from pollutants, playing a vital role in protecting the Renton community and the environment.

⚓PROJECT UPDATE: After more than 100 years, the Port Of Vancouver USA will soon have a new dock! Construction moved past the first phase of in-water work, where seasonal timing and “bubble curtains” were used to minimize impacts to aquatic life, and now continues with 198 piles being prepared for the new deck.

The dock, designed by Kpff Consulting Engineers, will serve a new 40,000-square-foot public market, where a multidisciplinary Otak team is leading efforts to maximize multimodal connectivity and community use.

Holgate Public Library is one of nine buildings touched by Multnomah County’s capital bond program, but extensive public engagement led to a design that makes it one of a kind for the communities it serves.

Tripling the size of the original facility, a variety of art installations, color patterns, and signage were all part of this new space that aims to reflect one of the most culturally diverse areas in the region.
