Your refrigerator works 24/7 to keep your food fresh, so a little maintenance can go a long way! Here are a few simple tips to help extend its life and keep it running efficiently:

✅ Clean the condenser coils – Dust and pet hair can build up and make your refrigerator work harder. Give those coils a good cleaning a couple times a year! 🧹

✅ Check the door seals – A damaged or loose gasket can let cold air escape. Try the dollar-bill test: close the door on a dollar bill. If it slides out easily, your seal may need attention. 💵

✅ Don't overfill it – Your refrigerator needs proper airflow to maintain an even temperature. Give those cold-air vents some breathing room! ❄️

✅ Keep it at the right temperature – Aim for around 37°F for the refrigerator and 0°F for the freezer. 🌡️

The history of the washing machine goes back hundreds of years! 🕰️

One of the earliest known patents for a mechanical washing machine was granted to Nathaniel Briggs in the United States in 1797. His design was a wooden machine that used a combination of washing and pressing to help clean clothes. (Before him was Jacob Christian Schäffer (1767): A German inventor who built one of the earliest washing designs. H. Sidgier (1782): Received an early British patent for a barrel-based washing machine design)

Over the years, inventors continued improving the idea, eventually leading to the modern washing machines we use today. 1886: Josephine Cochrane built the first practical machine to use water pressure instead of scrubbers to clean dishes. She designed it in her shed in Illinois after getting frustrated when servants chipped her fine china during hand-washing⚙️➡️🧺

From scrubbing clothes by hand to simply pressing a button—what an invention! 😄👏

On September 23, 1938, the Westinghouse Appliance Corporation, (now known as Electrolux and Frigidaire) Time Capsule was buried beneath the grounds of the New York World’s Fair, creating a remarkable message from the 20th century to the future. 🌎✨

Today, more than eight decades later, the idea still feels wonderfully futuristic: leaving a message for people we will never meet.

The capsule was intended to preserve a snapshot of everyday life and technology for people who might discover it generations later. Inside were objects representing the world of 1938—little pieces of history meant to tell future generations what life was like in their time. 📰😲

Imagine being there as it disappeared into the ground… knowing that someday, people in a distant future would wonder what the world of 1938 was really like. Westinghouse Time Capsules are scheduled to be opened in the year 6939! 🤔⏳
