🌀Sometimes in the waves of change, we find our true direction. 🧭🔥

This beautifully sums up 2020. Are you feeling it, too?

As hard as this year has been, when I chose to lean into the discomfort and explore fear through the lens of curiosity—I found the unfolding of truth.

I found clarity. I found expansion.

There is certainly pain at times, but growth can’t happen without it. There is darkness before there is light.

At times, I chose to ride the waves and sometimes I let the waves wash over me.

With practice being brave, I learned to trust—myself. I launched a new offering for my business during the pandemic, identity coaching, to answer a calling. This was a third pivot in 3 years. I squashed the Impostor voices every time by taking imperfect actions.

Today, I stand on the shore of resilience, honoring where I have been, and head straight towards the horizon. And so can you!

Have courage to speak your lived experiences. Truth telling and accepting truth are liberating. Is there any other way, but to be honest? Resonant stories have the ability to empower and transform. Someone out there is searching for your message. What gift will you share with them?

I won a gift lunch of quiche and farro pea fennel salad from on Friyay! A welcome dose of brightness on a rainy Spring day. Thank you!!

I’m also dreaming of being able to visit with friends + clients in person for brunch again someday. One of my all time favorite things to do are conversations over food.

Rose milk honey teas in vintage cups, a frittata with spring greens, my beautiful friend , and the charming dining space—photos from the before time. Edible flowers add a lovely touch of sweetness!

Name your top brunch spot (bonus, if in Portland). What meal you are craving right now and is there a memory attached?

Came across a personal project that I created 15 years ago as my art + design school thesis. A handmade accordion fold book about my journey through all the layers of grief that I was experiencing during that time in my life.
-
Creating the book was both painful and healing. A cathartic manifestation of the rhythms inside my heart for which I lacked words to express. It is a weaving dialogue between inner monologue and the external lyrics of music that helped me along the journey. There are two sides to the book representing a conflict of the stoic surface and the storm of emotions bubbling up from underneath.
-
Revisiting this project is timely, as I think about the different seasons that we experience in this life. The ebb and flow. The folding and unfolding. The contraction and expansion.
When I embrace the truth that change is constant, I find peace. The light of optimism returns. Sometimes it burns bright, other times it is only an ember. Dim, but always there.
-
I am learning. I am learning to express my feelings without judgement. I am learning to let go of many things: expectations, perfectionism, doing it all, busyness and leaning into stillness, presence, being.
-
Is it necessary to always seek answers? Or is it more important to live? I am learning to trust in the strength of my own knowing. I am becoming.

My first Dutch Baby Pancake. Super simple ingredients (only 5) and really easy to make! This is my kinda baking. Instead of maple syrup, I made a berry compote and served with yogurt. YUM!
-
Baked it plain and topped it with fresh fruit. You can bake fruit in (place fruit on bottom of pan and then pour batter over top).
-
I also did not have a skillet so used my Dutch Oven pot. Mine when cooled flattened quite a bit, could be the vessel or size, it was about 11-12inch wide.
-
Inspired by thekitchn.com:
SERVES 2 to 4
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole or 2% milk
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon fine salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Powdered sugar, maple syrup, and jam, for serving
-
INSTRUCTIONS
Blend the batter: Place the flour, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a blender or food processor fitted with the blade attachment. Blend for 10 seconds, scrape down the sides, and then blend for another 10 seconds. The batter will be quite loose and liquidy.
-
Rest the batter: Leave the batter in the blender and set aside to rest 20 to 25 minutes. This gives the flour time to absorb the liquid.
-
Heat the pan and oven: Meanwhile, place the skillet you're using on a middle rack to warm along with the oven. Heat the oven to 425°F.
-
Melt the butter: When ready to make the pancake, remove the skillet from the oven using oven mitts and place it on top of the stove. Add the butter and swirl the pan to melt the butter and coat the bottom and sides of the pan.
-
Add the batter: Pour the batter on top of the butter. Tilt the pan if needed so that the batter runs evenly to all sides. Place the skillet in the oven.
-
Bake the Dutch baby: Bake until the Dutch baby is puffed, lightly browned across the top, and darker brown on the sides and edges, 15 to 20 minutes.
-
Serve while hot: You can either serve from the pan or transfer the Dutch baby to a serving platter. Dust with powdered sugar. Cut into wedges and serve with maple syrup. @ Portland, Oregon

Dedicated to Mothers. Some of you care for human or fur ones. Some of you create life. Some of you step parent, adopt, or foster. Some of you dream of raising your own. Some of you have lost. Some of you are the kind of mother you never had. You support, encourage, nurture, lift, champion, and love.

It is not an easy role to step into. You are doing an amazing job by simply being kind, loving, and present. That is enough. None of us do it perfectly. In whatever way you mother, thank you for showing up. We can be both soft and strong. We are magical. 💥✨⚡️☀️🔥

I got to spend most of my day making art by myself and with my kids. This cut paper piece is done with found magazine elements. I’ll be sharing more of the process in my stories, so keep an eye out this week! 🤩💖 @ Portland, Oregon

Every time you are able to find some humor in a difficult situation, you win. ⭐️💖

I just saw a meme that made me smile big time and of course, being a lover of food and play on words (i.e. bad puns), I had to share:
-
Ran out of toiler paper and now using lettuce leaves. Today was just the tip of the iceberg, tomorrow romaines to be seen.

You’re welcome. 🥬🍃🧻

Send me your best puns!! The last few nights have been witching hour for this Mama; short fuse. I want some good belly laugh cries.

Now, Go! Comment below, I’m counting on you. 😂📝💌👇

I’ve been making a lot of comfort foods lately. Going for hearty or nostalgic. Staying home feels like cocooning and my mood sort of feels like Fall or Winter. Switched things up for lunch today with a light and bright citrus salad.

Cara Cara Oranges, Red Cabbage + Carrot + Shallot Slaw (as dressing) over chopped Romaine. So good!! We have been obsessed with Cara Cara over the last few weeks.

The slaw was left over from pork roast sandwiches. Also super delicious.

Have you been eating to fit a mood, too? What have you been cooking? Tell me about it. Give me some ideas! 🍽🥙
