We got into Inverness around 18:30. I bookmarked a bar on the map in my research and we ended up there. I washed Indian, but... Compromise.
It is situated NW of Inverness, and we drove through a deeply industrial area to get there. I filled up my tank for £40 from half en route.
We parked outside on the street, no fees, but no guarantee that it was legal either. Parking is so haphazard here; there is no signage as to where you cannot park.
I got a pint of Old Speckled Hen, a favorite of mine heretofore unseen in Scotland, for £4.
The menu had words on it. Many i didn't understand, such as Cullen Skink. They had two daily specials, both looked stellar.
I ordered the chowder, i mean skink, which was smoked haddock and potato with mustard seed. It was tremendous. I also had the chicken tikka with pappadams. K had the "veggie pie", known to most as quiche.
The meal was fu***ng delightful and extremely filling.
For whatever reason, my dish also came with fries. I probably could have just ordered the chowder and would have been fine.
We made our way to our room, a quaint cottage next to Loch Ness. It was a 20 minute drive, and we arrived around 20:30. I've been on IG most of the night with British TV cooking shows on on the background. So... 4.5 hours?
Tomorrow, we visit Culloden and Loch Ness.
I'M CAUGHT UP and so are you!
