We’re entering the AI era—and today at in Mexico City I’m unveiling our core to guide us through both its promise and its peril. We’ve distilled decades of human–machine insight into four competing priorities that balance bold innovation with deep responsibility:

• ⚙️ Augmentation over automation – pairing human judgment with machine speed rather than replacing people
• 🧠 Talent over technology – investing in AI fluency and critical thinking before buying more tools
• 🤝 Ethics over economics – establishing fair, transparent AI before chasing short-term savings
• 🎨 Voice over volume – creativity and authenticity matter more than mass-produced content

These decision principles help us generate local AI value, iterate toward exponential impact, measure what truly counts (creativity, trust, engagement, resilience), and design inclusive, sustainable systems.

I’m proud to announce that IAB will adopt this manifesto under a Creative Commons license—just as you can—to drive real change across our industry. I’m partnering with IAB’s committees to evolve this starting manifesto for their context, to empower brands, agencies, and advertisers to harness AI for real, lasting value—tuned to the Mexican context and built on trust.

As we saw during the pandemic, the experiences executives drew upon for decision-making weren't always relevant to the world of remote work and lockdowns.

In the era of AI, we know that we can't just make decisions based on pre-AI mindsets. We wrote this guide to making decisions with all types of data—not just our hunches, intuition, and stories from the pre-AI era—to guide leaders moving their organizations towards more rigorous decision-making.

Yeah, promises a lot. For GenAI to fly in the enterprise setting, generative AI programs will have to show results (even in their early days) to justify ongoing investment. These programs will need to do more than a 'faster, better or cheaper' version of our existing ways of working. True generative AI program scorecards will go beyond cost savings and revenue to also include innovation as well as human impacts (good and bad).
