Many of you know I live -mostly- in Mexico and Tulum, where I have a lovely apartment, sadly has a trash problem!

On my many walks and bike rides, I’ve seen a growing mess adjacent to a large recycling drop-off facility. Starting a few weeks ago, I quickly reorganized this spot to where it is now fairly clean and tidy!

Sadly, some people dump bags of unsorted discarded items in garbage bags but don’t take the extra step to actually pop each discarded item jnto the proper receptacle! Geez!

Anyway, daily quick stops ensure this place looks far nicer!

On the next item: I’m hoping to speak with a few nearby resorts to explore setting aside reusable…everything! Stay tuned!

A while back, I visited a dear friend and client, “Chuck” sent me the following message after our most recent organizing stint:

I have been fortunate to know Mark for many years. He has been a friend to me and my wife and her family since they were in college (Sonoma SU).

Mark brings an energizing push to organize what you do want, donate or eliminate what you don’t want, thus giving me the room (literally) and time to consider the remainder that I was not sure about.

I still have too much to de-clutter so I still need to work on letting go of the items that are standing between me and the life I envision. Here Mark shines because he also got me thinking and then taking action, allowing me to focus on the things that matter. I now look at things in a fresh light.

From another satisfied -and elated!- house and pet sitting customer, Robert, in Tulum, Mexico: “Mark stepped in last-minute for 2½ weeks of pet-sitting and house-sitting and we are very grateful to him. He did a great job of looking after the house, including some voluntary deep-cleaning, and also had a brilliant rapport with the pet cat. Thank you so much Mark for all your help.”

I have had a busy summer! Aside from some assorted organizing projects, I performed many house and pet sitting gigs...even in New York City.

Meanwhile, a client had me look after her adorable cat, Pixie, in Oregon. "Beth" was elated not once but twice when I performed my "cat" duties! Here's a glowing review!

"Mark was a delight to work with! I appreciated that he was so attentive and thorough during the planning conversations. I felt at ease knowing my kitty was being cared for by him. He was such a great help!"

I'm now back in Mexico, looking after a rather senior cat, Maxy, who is still warming up to me a bit. Poor thing, he was adopted by his cat parent after suffering extensive teeth problems and injured ears.

Among my interesting skill set (quite eclectic, at that!) is the ability to channel my inner repair person!

Below, my friend, Andy, took some photos and videos of me re-assembly of this gas barbeque grill where the LP gas tank "sits" in the bottom support bracket and becomes more stable as a result : )

There was a heavy-duty support that sorta works...kinda, sorta. BUT, the tank is now far more secure.

Of course, the grill works fabulously! "Tanks a lot, Mark," said the grill to me ; )

Dear FB Community ,

It took a lot of work but my Chapala client and I finally got that hotel room cleared out! She came out during the Christmas holidays and together, we performed a miracle!

Thankfully , we had some magical moments, like when a friend of mine reached out to a gentleman who ran a surfing school near Malaque and took her late husband’s six surfboards! Were many miles from the ocean and so what a blessing to have the boards go to the surfing school!

Other possessions found new homes and some were consigned.

My client saved only a few possessions and had these taken to her home in California.

Oh boy! Have I got a project…in Mexico. A four year old “estate” stored in a hotel room (actually much cheaper than any storage unit places here).

I stay in a separate hotel room as this room sadly got some mold infestation.

This is a “remote” gig as the client lives in California. We video chat every morning and go through assorted bins. Then I refine from there.

The big challenge: six surfboards belonging to the client’s late husband. Likely, they’ll be donated to a surfing school. A fitting and lasting legacy for the gentleman.

We will have an estate sale soon.

Good morning, everyone,

It's almost time for me to return to the United States from warm and sunny Mexico (Lake Chapala area)!

Although I have had some wonderful house and pet sitting gigs here. there is a near-lack of organizing opportunities. As a member of the National Association of Productivity and Organization, I spoke with a fellow NAPO colleague based in Mexico. For assorted reasons, the need for organizers is just not that great.

That said, I'm excited to announce the eminent publication of a small book on administering family estates, based on my experience of handling my late mother's estate earlier this year. My ghost writer, whom I've hired, is putting the book together as I type this post.

Looks like I may create a new career path as an estate consultant! Many people around my age (I'm 66), are dealing with their elderly parents. Along with that are opportunities to ensure those parent's wishes are carried out and with a minimum of problems.

It's been quite a journey these past four-plus years, tending after my mother, including dealing with her estate.

That process of deciding what to do with my mother's possessions weighed heavily on me. But first there was the necessary grieving process. After that, I had to have a plan of action to address seeling my mother's townhouse as well as ensure that all contents within the townhouse were either sold off or donated.

I'm happy to say I will write a small ebook addressing just this process. A writer friend will do most of the work on this exciting project with me very soon!

I'm searching for a title for this book. Perhaps one of you readers may have an idea for one?
