"The goal of Operation Safe Driver Week is to improve driver behavior through traffic enforcement, direct interaction with law enforcement, and public outreach and awareness. This year's event was held July 12-18 and focused on reckless, careless and dangerous driving."

Law enforcement personnel throughout North America interacted with 8,083 drivers on roadways during this year's Operation Safe Driver Week and issued 3,968 warnings and 2,604 tickets/citations to commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle drivers for unsafe driving.

"Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) recently released new safety recommendations to help drivers protect pets traveling in truck cabs. The guidance was developed with the Center for Pet Safety and covers pet restraint, emergency preparedness, weather safety, first aid, and overnight stops."

More than 60% of commercial truck drivers are pet owners, and nearly 40% bring their pets along for the ride.
