Though the official Portsmouth Holiday Arts Tour is on November 19 & 20 this year, we are inviting friends and family to visit us this Friday, November 18 from 5-7 pm for a sneak peek at what’s new at the Rock Street Studios.

We will be showcasing new work as well as bringing out some unearthed oldies but goodies for our 22nd year participating on the Tour.

•Alexander of Obsidian Edge will be available for in house knife sharpening so it’s a good time to bring any knives you need to have sharpened for the upcoming holiday season

•Peter will be holding court, demonstrating at the forge if time allows and telling jokes to anyone who will listen

•Stephen will be on hand to showcase his metal experiments and explain his process of applying various patinas and textures onto the animal and plant forms he creates when working at the forge.

In Lisa Grey upstairs studio enjoy the colorful explosion of collage work and paintings she has worked on for the last couple of years and maybe a demo if time allows!

My father, Peter Happny, has spent the past five decades crafting his ode to the town of Portsmouth, NH (and beyond) with his metal work. He is a self taught blacksmith, daily eater, and all around incredible human being. His career in is much like a longterm relationship.

Portsmouth served as a home when he first started at then supported his smith business starting with a large commission for Piscataqua Savings Bank that convinced him it was time to move out of the wood shack and to 66 Rock Street.

He has received a key to the city, shared jokes with far too many local business owners, and left a beautiful imprint on this small town that will span far beyond any of our lifetimes. In business just like love affairs projects can be short lived, long lasting, or span an entire career.

One thing is for sure, has forever changed this city and everyone who has ever worked with him or for him. We hope you all feel the love and if you need a pick me up head to www.peterhappny.com and take the “tour of Portsmouth” to feel the ♥️ from favorite blacksmith aka Nora Happny!
