October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Misconceptions about domestic violence still exist today. The notion that domestic violence only includes physical violence is perhaps the most common, when in fact, domestic violence often includes emotional, psychological, sexual and financial abuse. This October, take a moment to educate yourself on these types of violence so that when someone discloses their situation to you – or when you find yourself in a situation that just doesn’t feel right – you may be able to recognize some early warning signs and get help.
