A look behind the scenes in Newburgh!

Our Construction Administration and Construction Observation team is out in the field helping keep this project moving forward by monitoring construction progress, coordinating with contractors and project partners, documenting site conditions, reviewing project information, and supporting quality control every step of the way.

From the first stages of construction through final closeout, we're committed to helping deliver projects that are built according to plan and positioned for long-term success.

We're proud to be part of the team making it happen!

What does "Smart Growth" mean today?

A recent American Planning Association article explores how communities can balance housing, infrastructure, redevelopment, and economic development while planning for future growth.

At KARC, we know that successful planning isn't about preventing growth—it's about helping communities guide growth in ways that support their long-term goals.

Safety starts long before construction begins.

Many project risks are addressed during planning, permitting, environmental review, and site design. Identifying challenges early helps projects move forward more safely and efficiently.

This National Safety Month, we're recognizing the role thoughtful planning plays in reducing risk and supporting successful project outcomes.

A growing number of county and municipal leaders across New York are calling for updates to the SEQRA process, arguing that lengthy approval timelines can delay housing, infrastructure, and economic development projects.

KARC President Kelly Libolt believes reform can improve efficiency while maintaining environmental protections: "A more streamlined and coordinated process can help deliver much-needed housing, infrastructure, and economic investment while still preserving meaningful environmental oversight and local control."

: Ladies in Land Gulf Coast Event

KARC recently attended a Ladies in Land Gulf Coast event focused on a topic that plays a major role in successful development projects: raw land evaluation and due diligence.

The discussion covered environmental constraints, utilities, zoning, site access, and other early-stage considerations that can significantly impact project timelines and outcomes. At KARC, we know that strong projects start long before construction begins. Early planning, environmental review, and due diligence help projects move forward with fewer surprises.

Thank you to Ladies in Land, the presenters, and everyone involved in a great event and discussion.

Environmental review is more than compliance—it’s planning ahead.

Environmental issues identified too late can create delays, added costs, and project uncertainty. At KARC, our environmental services help projects move forward through early assessment, permitting strategy, wetlands review, ecological assessments, and SEQRA coordination.

Because better planning starts early.

KARC was proud to attend and sponsor the 9th Annual Hudson Valley Affordable Housing Summit hosted by the Pace Land Use Law Center!

We were especially excited to have Natalie Quinn, Director of Planning & Development, serve as a panelist for the session “Develop, Dispose or Transfer: Municipal Leadership in the Disposition of Municipal Land for Housing.”

The conversation focused on how municipalities can partner with private developers, land banks, and quasi-public entities to advance housing and redevelopment initiatives while navigating the legal and financial complexities involved.

We also want to give a huge shout out to keynote speaker Donald Elliott, author of An Even Better Way to Zone. His keynote was incredibly motivating for those of us working every day to improve zoning and development processes so communities can create the housing that is so urgently needed.

Thank you to the Pace Land Use Law Center for hosting such a thoughtful and impactful event!
