One of the first questions we ask has nothing to do with finishes, square footage, or style:

Do you see yourself living here in 30 years?

Every profession has a conversation they hear over and over.

A doctor hears, "Where does it hurt?"

A financial planner hears, "Will I have enough?"

Those of us who work in housing hear a different one.

"Mom won't leave."

Most people hear stubbornness.

We hear something else.

A favorite chair. Morning coffee. The neighbor across the street. The route to the grocery store. The place where the grandkids know exactly which cabinet has the snacks.

Home has a way of becoming part of who we are.

That's why these conversations are rarely just about moving. They're about deciding what can be preserved, what has to change, and whether the home can change with it.
