Contrarian take: the fastest printer isn't always the right printer.

A prospect called last week wanting 2,000 booklets in 24 hours, with no time for a proof review. We passed on the timeline as-is. Then we called back with a two-day plan that built in a proof step and same-team handling from file to finished job.

They said yes. The booklets went out clean, on brand, and on schedule for their event.

Here's what we've learned across 25 years of running this shop: a rushed job with a typo costs more than a job that shipped a day later. Reprints, missed events, and copies that don't match the rest of the brand kit add up fast.

We still move mountains for short-notice work. Construction jobs run same-day. Marketing pieces run on quick turnarounds every week. The difference is we build the right checkpoints in, even when the clock is tight.

What actually goes wrong on a print job you didn't proof first? Usually it's the small stuff: a phone number off by one digit, a logo that looks navy on screen and purple on paper, a bleed that trims a word in half. All of it is caught in a proof. None of it is caught after 2,000 pieces are boxed.

That's why we offer a free proof, electronic or printed, on every job before we run production. You see the exact file we're printing, on the exact stock, at the exact size. If something is off, we fix it while fixing it still costs nothing.

Monday morning move: when you send your next print file to any printer, ask two questions. Can I see a proof before you run it, and is that proof free? If either answer is no, keep shopping. A shop that skips proofing is a shop that hands you the mistakes.
