If bedtime feels harder than it should, it’s usually one of these five things.

Most parents I work with have already tried a lot before they find me. The issue isn’t effort. It’s direction. Knowing which pattern actually fits your child is the difference between trying random things and making real progress.

Swipe through to find your child’s pattern, then comment SLEEP below and I’ll send you the link to the free guide with a self-assessment worksheet and a concrete starting point.

Which one sounds most like your kid? Drop it in the comments.

Sleep struggles are incredibly common in childhood, especially for neurodiverse kids.

But when you’re living it every night, it can feel incredibly isolating.

This is your reminder that:
💙 you’re not alone
💙 your child isn’t “bad at sleeping”
💙 and understanding the why behind sleep struggles matters.

Save this post for the nights you need the reminder.

Remembering and honoring those who gave their lives in service today. ❤️

Holidays with kids are rarely calm or picture-perfect, but those messy, ordinary moments matter so much.

Wishing your family moments of connection, rest, and peace this Memorial Day.

For some kids, bedtime is when all the thoughts finally show up.

Questions.
Worries.
Random ideas.
Big conversations.
“One more thing…” 😅

This is something I see often with ADHD, anxiety, autism, giftedness, and other very busy brains.

A few small shifts before lights out can sometimes help kids feel calmer and less mentally “stuck” at bedtime.

I shared 3 simple questions that may help support kids who struggle with racing thoughts at night. 😴

If you’d like the link to my Racing Thoughts Bedtime Guide, drop a 🤍 below and I’ll send it to you.

For a lot of kids, bedtime is the first quiet moment their brain has had all day.

No school.
No screens.
No distractions.
No busy schedule.

And suddenly… ALL the thoughts show up at once.

Questions.
Worries.
Random facts.
Big feelings.
Deep life conversations.
Tomorrow’s plans.
That embarrassing thing that happened 3 years ago. 😅

This is especially common in kids with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or just very busy brains.

One strategy that can help is creating a simple “brain dump” routine BEFORE lights out.

A few ideas:

- Draw or write worries/questions in a notebook
- Have a quick “tell me 3 thoughts still in your brain” conversation
- Pretend to “put away” thoughts for tomorrow
- Keep a notepad next to the bed for late-night ideas

The goal isn’t to stop kids from thinking.

It’s helping their brain feel like:
“I don’t have to hold onto this right now.” 🤍

If bedtime has turned into an hour of worries, questions, or endless thoughts, you’re definitely not alone.

Save this post for later or share it with another parent raising a “busy brain” kid.

When my oldest was 6, bedtime routine started around 7:30 with lights out at 8.

And somehow… at 10 PM, he would suddenly appear in the hallway ready to discuss whatever fascinating topic was currently living in his brain.

Dinosaurs. Space. Animals.

Or completely random questions like:
“Who invented toilet paper?”

And then somehow we’d move into major life topics like:
“What happens when you die?” 😅

Part of me loved these conversations because they were genuinely funny, thoughtful, and sweet.

The other part of me was thinking… HOW ARE YOU STILL AWAKE RIGHT NOW?

Bedtime stalling doesn’t always look like tantrums or refusing to stay in bed. Sometimes it looks like connection-seeking, curiosity, delayed worries, or a busy brain finally slowing down enough to start processing the day.

And honestly? That doesn’t make it less exhausting for parents. 🤍

Tell me the most random bedtime question your child has asked lately. 😅

If bedtime currently feels like a 90-minute hostage negotiation… you’re not alone. 😅

A lot of parents tell me they feel “stuck” at bedtime, lying beside their child, sneaking out multiple times, or spending their entire evening trying to get their child to sleep.

And while it may have started as something that worked during a tough season, eventually it can start to feel exhausting and unsustainable.

The good news? Helping your child learn independent sleep doesn’t have to involve harsh methods or suddenly changing everything overnight.

There are gentle, realistic ways to support sleep skills while still being responsive and connected at bedtime.

Because at some point, most parents want their evenings back too. 🤍

Save this post if bedtime has been feeling extra draining lately.

Snuggling with my daughter at bedtime was never the problem.

I loved it. She loved it. It was our thing.

But slowly — without really noticing — bedtime started getting longer. And longer.

She’d wake up the second I tried to sneak out.
Then she started waking multiple times a night.
Then coming into my room.

It wasn’t a problem… until it was a problem. 😅

And honestly, that’s how it happens for most families.

There’s usually no dramatic moment where everything suddenly falls apart. Just a gradual drift until one day you realize bedtime is taking two hours and nobody is sleeping.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that I had accidentally taught her that she needed me to fall asleep.

So every time she partially woke overnight — which is normal for all of us — she needed the SAME support to fall back asleep again.

That’s what a sleep association is.

And it makes complete sense.

It just eventually stops working for everyone.

Eventually I knew we needed to get things back on track. And we did.

Gradually, bedtime became shorter, night wakings decreased, and everyone started getting more rest.

I’m Tiffany — a BCBA, sleep specialist, and mom of 3 who knows firsthand that bedtime doesn’t have to feel this hard.

If this sounds like your house right now, it doesn’t have to stay this way. Sleep is a skill, and it’s one your child can learn.

Drop a 😅 if you’ve ever spent your whole evening trapped in a dark room waiting for your child to fall asleep.

Motherhood was never meant to be done alone.

Happy Mother’s Day to the friends who listen, encourage, validate, check in, make us laugh, and remind us we’re doing better than we think. 🤍

Some kids don’t wake up ready to jump out of bed and start the day.

Honestly… this was my daughter this morning 😅

Sometimes mornings are just hard. Your body is cozy, you’re tired, and suddenly someone is asking you to get up and start doing things immediately.

When my kids are struggling with mornings, I’ve noticed it helps to slow down for a minute instead of jumping straight into:
“Come on, we’re late.”

A little connection first. A quick snuggle or chat. Then really small, easy steps to help get their body moving.

It sounds simple, but starting with tiny, doable things can help kids build momentum toward the harder task of actually getting out of bed.

This strategy is actually rooted in behavior science (called behavior momentum), but mostly it just feels more human and less stressful for everyone involved.

Definitely not magic.
Definitely doesn’t make every morning smooth 😅
But it can help.

Does anyone else have a child who struggles with mornings?
