The Powhatan Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce two $1,000 scholarship opportunities available to graduating high school seniors connected to Chamber member businesses or organizations.

This program is designed to invest in the next generation and support students as they prepare to continue their education at a 2- or 4-year college.

Eligibility and application details are included in the graphic below. Please click the link in the comments to apply before the deadline.

We encourage our members to share this opportunity with employees, families, and anyone in their organization who may have a graduating senior.

The women who find their way to me are rarely falling apart.

They’re functioning.
Performing.
Meeting expectations.

Which is exactly why they assume the problem must be them.

If they’re tired, they should be stronger.
If they’re overwhelmed, they should be more organized.
If they feel disconnected, they must need a better plan.

But exhaustion doesn’t automatically mean inadequacy.

Sometimes it means you’ve been navigating by everyone else’s coordinates for so long that you’ve lost sight of your own.

You can be successful and still feel unfamiliar to yourself.
You can be capable and still feel overwhelmed.

That’s not broken.

That’s a signal.

The work isn’t about becoming a new version of you.

It’s about reclaiming your internal compass. So your decisions, your pace, and your energy start to feel like they belong to you again.

If you’ve been mistaking disconnection for failure, this might be the recentering you’ve been needing. Here's a free reflection guide I've created, "The 5 Prompts to Hear Your Voice Again," to help with this process. You can find it at 👉 https://www.leader-haven.com/5-prompts

If this sounds familiar, hear this first: Nothing is wrong with you.

Survival mode doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means your system has been working overtime to keep everything running.

When stillness feels uncomfortable…
when open space gets filled automatically…
when your needs feel harder to name than everyone else’s…
when pressure makes you either push harder or go numb…

Those aren’t flaws.
They’re signals.

Signals that you’ve been carrying too much for too long, and your nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do to help you function.

The good news?
Survival mode isn’t a life sentence.
And you don’t have to start over to get out of it.

On January 29th, I’m hosting a live workshop called Get Out of Survival Mode (Without Starting Over). The workshop is a grounded reset for women who are capable, responsible, and quietly worn thin.

If this video puts into words to something you’ve been feeling but couldn’t name, I’d love to have you there.

𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 “𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞.” 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟.
On the outside, everything looks good.

You’re holding it all together.
You’re doing what’s expected.

But inside?
- You feel disconnected.
- You’ve stopped making space for the things that once lit you up.
- You’re tired of carrying the weight of it all.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐮𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞.

Not because they’ve failed, but because “fine” isn’t enough anymore.

The truth is—life doesn’t need an overhaul.
You don’t have to burn it all down.
You just need an Edit.

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗲. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿.

For some leaders, trust is a vague concept—something you 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 people feel around you.
But for your team or your clients, trust is more tangible than that. It’s something they’re 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳.

Here’s what it looks like when people trust your leadership:

- They feel safe speaking up, even in conflict. (Because they don’t fear gossip, judgment, or retaliation.)
- They know you’ll be honest with them—even when it’s uncomfortable.
- They see you follow through on your word.
- They notice your consistency. You don’t have one set of standards for the team and another for yourself.

Sounds ideal, right?

But here’s where many leaders unintentionally erode trust—often with good intentions or under pressure:

- Withholding feedback or emotions to “keep the peace” (which often creates quiet resentment).
- Avoiding hard conversations about performance—yours or others’.
- Overcommitting and then ghosting on deliverables.
- Venting about a team member to someone else instead of addressing it directly.
- Failing to communicate major decisions or shifts, assuming “they’ll figure it out eventually.”

You don’t have to be perfect. But trust is built in moments of clarity, consistency, and courage.

And it’s broken in moments of avoidance, inconsistency, or self-protection.

Want your team or clients to trust you more?
Start here:
✅ Say what’s true, even when it’s hard.
✅ Keep your word.
✅ Be the same person in every room.

That’s what real trust looks like in motion.

Feeling disconnected from your work—even when you’re good at it?

You’re not broken.
You might just be working against your natural wiring.

When you operate outside your Working Geniuses, it doesn’t just drain your energy.
It chips away at your confidence.

✨ It’s not laziness.
✨ It’s not weakness.
✨ It’s misalignment.

Discovering your Working Geniuses is about more than productivity.
It’s about reclaiming your clarity, your energy, and your joy at work.

𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 usually doesn’t come in a lightning bolt.
It comes in 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 you’ve been ignoring for a long time.

The little “𝘶𝘨𝘩” you feel when that meeting pops on your calendar.
The hesitation before you say yes to something you’ve done a hundred times.
The quiet thought: 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳.

Those aren’t mood swings.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚.

But high-capacity people—like you, like me—we’re masters at minimizing the signs.

We call it being tired.
We blame it on the season.
We think a day off will fix it.

And when the burnout builds, we’re shocked.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬:
Clarity often starts as something subtle.
Something quiet.
Something you don’t want to name yet.

But if you listen early—before your body or your calendar forces the issue—
you can shift things before they break.

That’s what I wrote about in this yesterday's issue of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐭.

Not a reinvention.
Not a “quit your job” pep talk.
Just the power of finally telling the truth about what’s not working anymore.

🌀 Read it here: https://leader-haven.kit.com/posts/just-need-permission

I used to think I had to blow it all up to feel better. New job. New team. New calendar. New me. And the truth?

Yesterday, I led a table discussion at the Powhatan Chamber of Commerce luncheon with one simple question:
"𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡?"

There were so many great answers. When it was my turn to reflect, I shared the visual I return to again and again:

A 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐮𝐦—with me standing in the middle.
At any given hard moment, I have a choice:

👉 Move 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 toward self-belief, creativity, problem-solving, and possibility
or
👈 Move 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 toward self-doubt, spiraling, shame, and that loud inner critic whispering, “You’re not cut out for this.”

Some days, I don’t make the rightward move easily.
Sometimes I’m stuck on the left.
But I’ve learned how to pause, zoom out, and 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫—so I can choose again.

With time, choosing “right” has become a practice.
𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧—𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞.
And what’s fascinating is… there’s science to back this up.

🧠 One side of our brain stores negative thought patterns.
The other side stores the positive ones.
So when I'm pushing toward the positive, "right-side" mindset,
𝐈'𝐦 𝐧𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧.

And visualization? It actually lights up the same neural pathways as 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

So when things get tough, I don’t just try to “think positive.”
𝐈 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐮𝐦.
Again and again.

That’s what keeps me going.

Now I’ll pass the question to you:
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 (𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞) 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡?
