Bronzesmith is a full service foundry dedicated from the creation to completion of limited edition bronze sculpture. With 30 years of experience we are privileged to work with many of the country's well known and talented artists. Our experience has led to innovative techniques for casting and patina. Our gallery promotes both established masters and emerging talent in the sculpture medium. A uni

que feature of Bronzesmith Gallery is the large variety of sculpture available at one location. Bronzesmith Foundry, which is on the same premises as the gallery casts work for over 35 artists. Bronzes from these artists are on display throughout the building. Witness for yourself how an artist's sculpture comes to life in a step-by-step demonstration of bronze casting. Your tour will be led by our knowledgeable and friendly staff. Tours are by appointment on Thursdays at 11:00 am. Individuals and small groups are welcome!

The “Wish Man” monument continues its incredible journey through the bronze casting process!

Beautifully sculpted by Cowboy Artist of America Bill Nebeker, this monument honors the life and legacy of Make-A-Wish visionary and first president Frank Shankwitz.

In this next series of photos, you’ll see the individual bronze castings of the hat and brim being carefully TIG welded together by Jacob Sterenberg. This is a precise and highly skilled part of the process. Once Jacob’s work is complete and the metal finishing is done, you won’t even be able to tell where the individual pieces were joined together.

We’re proud to share this behind-the-scenes look at the incredible craftsmanship that goes into creating a lasting bronze monument.

The Bronze Pour
The “Wish Man” Monument continues its journey through the bronze casting process. Beautifully sculpted by Cowboy Artists of America artist Bill Nebeker, this monument honors the life and legacy of Frank Shankwitz, co-founder of Make-A-Wish.
In these photos and videos, you’ll witness one of the most exciting stages—the bronze pour!
Our master pour crew—Harley Miner, Ricky Gamez, and Jacob Sterenberg—work together like a finely tuned machine. The ceramic shells, completed last week, were placed in a kiln and fired to 1,250°F, making them strong and hot. (The wax was melted out the day before.
Now comes the magic of the lost-wax casting process. Bronze is heated to approximately 2,150°F in a crucible holding up to 500 pounds of molten metal, then carefully poured into the ceramic shells where the wax once was.
If you’ve never experienced a bronze pour, we invite you to take a foundry tour at Bronzesmith by appointment on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. Call 928-772-2378 for reservations.
