Tonight, members of Nevada County Fire & Rescue came together for CPR training alongside personnel from several of our mutual aid departments, a couple of members from Arkansas Forestry, and a local nurse from our community.

Training like this helps strengthen the partnerships between our departments and ensures we are prepared to provide the best possible care when emergencies happen. We appreciate everyone who took the time to attend and continue their lifesaving education.

A special thank you to our instructor, Ashley Berry, for taking the time to teach tonight’s class and share her knowledge with everyone in attendance. We truly appreciate the time and effort you put into helping our responders and community members stay prepared to save lives.

Working together makes our community stronger and safer.

At approximately 11:00 AM today, Nevada County Rescue responded to assist Laneburg and Emmett Fire Departments with a reported trash truck fire.

Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke coming from the truck’s collection compartment. Fire personnel began suppression efforts but stood by until a wrecker arrived to safely lift the rear door, allowing for full access to the fire.

Once the fire was partially contained, the truck was relocated to the Nevada County Landfill, where its contents were fully dumped. Crews then completed extinguishment operations.

No injuries were reported.

Nevada County Rescue would like to remind the public to use caution when disposing of items such as batteries, chemicals, and other flammable materials. Improper disposal can lead to fires in trash trucks and pose serious risks to sanitation workers and emergency responders.
