We’re Megan and Hilary, your Dream Team for copywriting and editing. For the past 15 years, we’ve worked together as freelancers, and we’ve become the best of friends … and teammates. When the company for which we work began to shift its focus to publishing, we saw an opportunity: to start our own company and share the expertise we’ve earned over the past decade and a half. Our mission: to use our copywriting and marketing knowledge and skills to help entrepreneurs get their message to their clients. We specialize in direct response copywriting; that is, writing that inspires your potential clients to take action. Hilary: After graduating from California State University Long Beach with a degree in English and an option in Creative Writing, Hilary worked as a reporter for several years before launching her freelance writing career sixteen years ago. She’s now the editor of and a regular contributor for Prescott Woman magazine, and has several other regular clients. She also writes romance and women’s fiction novels. When she’s not working and chauffeuring her three children, she loves reading, running, and dancing. Megan: With a degree in Education/emphasis in English from Arizona State University, Megan taught high school English until her second child was born, at which point, she began working as a project manager and editor for a marketing/copywriting company (which is where she met Hilary!). That was 14 years ago, and over the years, she has also been hired to edit several books for clients who came to her via word-of-mouth. She is also the editor for Podcast Magazine, a position she loves! When she’s not working and taking care of her three children, she also enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and hiking and exploring new places.

Sometimes the way people use apostrophes has us like >>> 😲
Use apostrophes in contractions (when you make two words into one, like "you're," "they're," "don't," "it's," and "isn't." Use them when you talk about something that belongs to someone: "Megan's puppy," or "Hilary's glasses" (of course, you wouldn't use them for possessive words like "ours" or "theirs" - gotta love the English language!).

❌ Check your phone's suggestions - lots of phones add apostrophes in the wrong place.
❌Don't use them to indicate a plural, like "I eat apple's," or, "We hike on Tuesday's." The exception is in cases like this: "Dot your i's and cross your t's."
✅ Use the Internet if you're not sure! There are lots of free articles and guides out there!

🤩 The simplest way to define "direct-response copy" is: copy that inspires the reader to take action as soon as possible. While it may include some informational content, the meat and potatoes of direct-response copy invoke an emotional "I-must-have-this" response. 🤩
