On May 27, 2026, we hosted a STIHL Training Event at the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. Members from several Calvert County Volunteer Fire-Rescue-EMS departments participated in hands-on instruction focused on the safe and proper use of chainsaws and rescue saws.

Participants learned proper operating techniques, equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures, and important safety protocols. The training provided members with the opportunity to practice using different types of saws while working through realistic scenarios that responders may encounter in the field.

Fire-Rescue-EMS personnel are often called to incidents involving trees blocking roadways or situations requiring vehicle extrication to reach and remove patients. This training helped reinforce the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively perform these critical services for our community.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Kenneth and Jeff from STIHL for providing the training, the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department for allowing the use of their property to host the event, and the volunteer members who supplied trees for the practical cutting exercises.
