A little cable management project we did on an RV this past weekend, but we didn’t stop there! After we finished up the RV we went inside their home and installed an antenna so they could get their local channels without dragging an antenna out in their window every time they wanted to watch TV. We also cleaned up a data jack and installed it into a wall plate that they can just plug their computer into when they’re ready to connect to the internet!

Who are you letting in your home? There are many companies that say they are licensed and insured. The question is WHAT TYPE OF LICENSE(s) DO THEY HAVE? In the state of Virginia, to sell security services (ie cameras) you must not only carry a license for your business BUT you must also be licensed by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). This license ensures that you have the proper credentials (knowledge and passed a test through an accredited program) as well as a thorough personal background check and are keeping in compliance of the DCJS standards. If you are selling and installing security cameras/systems you MUST be licensed for sales and installation; these are two separate license. Both the company and the individual will have a separate DCJS number that they can provide for you to validate their license. This subject can get very deep as there are many other requirements that both the company and its employees must comply with, so please do your research before choosing who you want to PROTECT YOUR FAMILY!

Our latest project, we wrapped up today! Routed cables in the walls/ceiling, installed the TV, conference cam, wireless access point, conference phone, custom data cables and then tied it all into their network!

I have a couple of close friends and family members that are currently dealing with a project of some sort. All of them are using a contractor to complete some or all of their project. There is one common issue that every one of them is facing....... poor communication from the contractor!!!!! Please DO NOT put this on COVID as I will go ahead and squash that right here! Communication is KEY. If you (the contractor) are busy because you are short staffed due to the COVID situation, it is not an excuse for not communicating!!!!! You let your client (or potential client) know your situation up front (that you are short handed and having a hard time finding help due to the current situation) and you continue to maintain effective communication throughout the process! We are living in a time were trust is going to be crucial and I appreciate the trust that people have in me to allow me in their homes and businesses in order to provide for my family! If you can’t show up to a scheduled appointment or call to let your customer know that you need to reschedule, how are they going to trust you to complete the work you are promising and to do so in a professional manner that they are paying you for? Money is tight for many people right now and if someone is trusting you to help them (paying you money and in turn allowing you to provide for YOUR family) then you must respect their time by communicating your intentions and following through with your appointments and agreement! TRUST AND COMMUNICATION ARE KEY! Thank you to our loyal customers who have (and continue to) trust us with their home or business projects!
