TUESDAY TIP:
Back to School π π π
It's more than buying supplies, new clothes, student schedules, and the pick up line.
π«π± YOU KNOW WHAT TIME SCHOOL STARTS. BUT DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF SCHOOL HAS TO CLOSE UNEXPECTEDLY?
Parents should know their child's school emergency plan.
As the school year gets underway:
π± Know how you'll receive emergency notifications. Make sure your contact information is current and you're signed up for your school's alerts.
π Know where to find information. Bookmark your school's website and follow its official social media channels so you know where to get accurate updates.
π Know what to do if school closes. Understand where your child will go, who is authorized to pick them up, and what your school's reunification procedures are.
π Don't rush to the school during an emergency unless instructed to do so. Your child's school has emergency procedures designed to keep students and staff safe. Showing up unexpectedly can create traffic, interfere with emergency responders, and make an already difficult situation more challenging.
π¨βπ©βπ§ Talk about the plan with your child, too. Knowing what to expect can help everyone stay calm and make good decisions when the unexpected happens.
The best time to learn your school's emergency plan is before you need it.
π Back to school. Back to preparedness.
