At the start of the school year, Princeton Elementary School sent out a "wish list" of items that they were desperately lacking. One of the mothers who works at the quarry brought this to the attention of management and it was decided to fill as much as these needs as possible. In addition to a lot of basic school supplies, Hanson donated 12 soccer balls and 12 basketballs to help supplement the PE department.

On May 14th, Hanson participated in the Princeton Community Day by being a sponsor of the event along with hosting a booth. Over 500 adults, teens and children came on by to talk about the operation of the quarry, check out some of the safety equipment on-hand, pickup some logoed school supplies and explore two of the giant haul trucks.

On April 23rd, Hanson conducted its latest clean-up of the two-mile stretch of Edwards Road outside the quarry's main entrance that it had adopted as part of the NCDOT Adopt-A-Highway program. On that day, Hanson employees collected a variety of items from furniture to carpeting to tires.

Being an active partner with the Habitat for Humanity of Johnston County for the last several years, Hanson is proud to announce a full house sponsorship by donating $65K toward the construction of a house that will be built in the Town of Princeton next year. This "next step" in the partnership has created an extra enthusiasm as employees are very much looking forward to working on the "Hanson" house.

On October 10th, Hanson hosted its annual Family Safety Day and had over 90 employees and family members in attendance. A variety of educational activities took place on the topic of safety highlighted by attendees wearing “drunk goggles” provided by the Princeton Police Department that shows the impairment resulting from having a couple drinks. There were also multiple fun activities during the day to entertain the kids including pumpkin decorating, face painting and bounce houses. Even though it drizzled throughout the day, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the participants.

Earlier this year, Hanson donated a small boulder to be used as a "spirit rock" to Creekside Elementary School located in New Bern, NC. The rock was placed on the school’s front lawn and serves as a focal point for student activities. In addition, the rock provides the school an opportunity to raise funds by renting it out on a weekly basis to members of the community. All proceeds from this program go to the funding of technology for the classrooms.

The Princeton Quarry is a big supporter of the Habitat for Humanity of Johnston County. This year a group of employees and their family members volunteered on four Saturdays to assist with the building of a house in Selma. On these days, the group accomplished a variety of tasks such as installing the floor system, insulating the windows, finishing the framing, mounting the junction boxes, installing the porch hand rails, completing the house wrap, adding the dry wall, covering the water / sewer lines and even mowing the grass.

Hanson has adopted a two-mile stretch of Edwards Road outside of the quarry’s main entrance through the NCDOT Adopt-A-Highway Program and conducted its first clean-up on February 6, 2015. On that day, ten Hanson employees collected a variety of items from furniture to carpeting to mattresses to 27 tires, which completely filled up a 32 yard dumpster.
