I just finished my latest project. A replica of the Yaquina Head lighthouse in Newport, OR

It’s about four feet tall and 14 inches wide that the base. I used utility grade Fir all of the wood and 1/2” x 1/2” wire mesh for the railings. The light is a solar pathway light.

I’m very happy with how it turned out.

Adirondacks are done and I’ll post some pictures once we have the fire pit area completed.

Now on the the next project. A replica of the Yaquina Head lighthouse for the front yard. I’ve started on the tower but still a long way to go. I also provided a picture of the lighthouse that I’m trying to replicate. Hopefully I come close. I’ll post more progress pictures in the weeks to come.

It could be said that I am a bit of a chess j***y. It is, in my defense, the best game ever created. A few years ago some co workers of mine and I started playing a version of chess called four player team chess - beyond fun and a great variation. Always looking for a new twist I created my own type of board and the game is called layered chess. The rules are the same as regular chess but the board is in layers. It leads to an interesting game in which the most powerful piece is probably the knight (which explains why no one wants to play with me because on a normal board my knights are already pretty dominant. I told you all of that so that I could show you a few pictures of the board. What you are looking at is really a one of a kind board.

I put the final touch on the podium and I'm happy because my friend is happy. Now what to do next????
