Touring a hop kiln.
Season is over at the end of September and the last hops are about to be bailed in 200 lbs square burlap bags. Washington State is the largest producer of Hops in the world. Much of it grown in the Yakima valley near Prosser, so we grow b**r and w**e so that’s very fine! 🤠🍺🍻🍷!

Fun Fact Friday
Horse Heaven Hill land mass is huge at over 600,000 acres but I misspoke it is 3rd not second in land mass in eastern Washington. The Columbia Valley AVA gets the top slot at around 11 million acres. The Horse Heaven Hill does grow a wide variety of grapes leaning to big reds. The acres under vine is second only to the Yakima valley the 3rd oldest AVA in the USA formed in 1983!

Catch the crush weekend October 9-11th. Unfortunately we had to crush the grapes on Wednesday but we will show you how the grapes are crushed and separated from the rachis. 🤠👍🍇

Catch the crush weekend is here October 9-11th. It’s an early season so come on out to see the action. Taste from the fermentation, punch down, etc. The Crawford’s harvest the Malbec today but we can still see the action as we crush the grapes on this beautiful day! 🤠🍷👍🍇

Pressing Durif or Petit Sirah with our Hydro presses at Daven Lore on October 5, 2026. This process squeezes the last w**e from the grape skins to make this bold and robust w**e which is always a crowd pleaser.

October 5 pressing Durif, also known as Petite Sirah using a torpedo. This helps to remove free run juice prior to pressing. The free run juice is approximately 70% of the volume.

Fun Fact Friday
Washington State is the largest producer of Blueberries in the United States at 193,000,000 lbs. many of them grown in Eastern Washington. 20 years ago there was hardly any grown here but now we are a major producer. Crawford Farms grows 10 different varieties for our local farmer markets so come out and get your blueberries! 🤠👍🫐

Pumpkin palooza at the Prosser Farmers Market Saturday, October 3rd from 8am to 12. This is the last Farmers Market for Prosser this year, so bring the kids to see the monster pumpkins and paint some of the smaller ones. Thanks to Rita Brown our market manager, Scott Rockney, and WSU Washington State University irrigated, agricultural research and extension center for all their hard work.
