Anyone out there want to purchase a 2025 raffle ticket? I realize 2024 is not even close to being over, but I got my tickets early this year.

I have sold several hundreds of these over the years, and many of my friends have won after buying my tickets.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge I belong to holds a raffle and has been doing so for 42 years. Daily prizes of $25, monthly $200 prizes, and first through fifth place annual prizes. Winnings are mailed monthly.

And get this: If you win, your ticket gets tossed back into the bucket and has a chance to win for you again (and again, and again, and…). And that does happen.

Tickets are still only $20. I have 150 tickets this year. This is the most I’ve ever had, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

I cannot promise certain ticket numbers. I’ll mail, hand off, or otherwise provide however many tickets you want, but the ticket number will be random.

Lots has changed since the last post. New siding, roof, door wall, window, and we’re revamping the landscaping a bit.

We would like to thank our local law enforcement for their help and support. Today through Wednesday, if you come up in uniform or have your badge, your ice cream is on the house.

We were able to visit the mansion for the weekend with family and friends. Nice food, cold beverages, and a great dessert around the campfire!

Yay! The Three Bedroom Mansion on Houghton Lake is now paid off. Zero balance. No mortgage!

Cheryl and I are thankful to be so fortunate. Our cottage is a place to relax, work, enjoy, and share - and we’re pleased to get that huge payment behind us.

A celebration is being planned for next summer to torch the mortgage papers. Really, it’s just another reason to have a party!

In closing, thanks to DFCU Financial for being such an awesome mortgage holder. They truly are a top notch entity, and though we are debt-free today, one day we will secure another mortgage for our eventual retirement home.
