The National Wildfire Alliance formed this year to support wildfire policies and practices that are transparent, intentional, honest, open, and aggressive in initial attack in wildfire season. The NWA supports the efforts of Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz to redirect wildfire policy away from destructive "managed fire" practices, big boxing, wildfire expansion, and wildfire use. There has been no reflection by the agencies on the sumulative impacts to our living forests of a decade of massive wildfires driven as much by neglect and poorly understood pseudo-scientific theories as by any other factor.
