I was doing some research on what the difference between a soul and a spirit.
Here is the best explanation that I found.

1. The Soul
Definition:
The soul is often seen as the individual, eternal essence of a person — the part that carries one's personality, memories, emotions, and identity. It's what makes you uniquely you.

Associated with:

Consciousness and self-awareness

Moral character and personal identity

The aspect of you that continues after death (in many beliefs)

In religious contexts:

In Christianity, it's the part of you judged after death.

In Hinduism, the ātman is the soul that reincarnates.

In Islam, the nafs or soul is what can be purified or corrupted.

2. The Spirit
Definition:
The spirit is often viewed as the life force or divine spark within a person — the part that connects to God, the universe, or the divine realm.

Associated with:

Vitality or breath of life

Connection to the divine or cosmic

Often temporary and returns to its source after death

In religious contexts:

In the Bible, “spirit” (Hebrew: ruach, Greek: pneuma) is often linked to the breath or wind — the animating force.

In many traditions, the spirit is seen as the means by which we communicate with higher realms or receive divine insight.
