Releasing in November 2026—SEL Power System Analysis Textbook Uses a Time-Domain Approach

𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘈𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴: 𝘈 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦-𝘋𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 begins with time-domain principles and develops solutions to power system problems based on these principles. We start with time-domain principles to provide a complete understanding of power system analysis. We then explain approximations and simplifications. We provide examples to illustrate the application of the time-domain and frequency-domain theoretical principles. This first-principles-based approach equips students with the skills to keep up with the rapid changes occurring in power systems. The textbook is intended for 300- and 400-level undergraduate university students specializing in electric power or related electrical engineering areas. This textbook can also be used in introductory 500-level courses and by practicing engineers interested in first principles and time-domain power system analysis.
