The Story of Shade Monkey
A Little Monkey Business Built on Big Dreams
Some businesses start with a five-year plan, a big investment, and a carefully calculated strategy.
Shade Monkey Window Tinting started with something a little different: a vision, a lot of hustle, and a willingness to do things our own way.
What began as a tiny little monkey business in Southwest Florida has grown through something that means more to us than any advertisement ever could: people talking about us.
Referrals. Word of mouth. One happy customer telling another. Then another.
And suddenly, that little monkey started swinging.
The Monkey Behind the Business
Shade Monkey isn't just a name.
It's a reflection of the personality behind it.
There is a serious side to the businessβquality installations, professional products, attention to detail, and finding the right solution for every window.
But there is also a side that refuses to take everything so seriously.
Why shouldn't a window tinting company have some fun?
Why shouldn't a squeegee catch fire? π₯
Why shouldn't a cloud tell you to tint your windows? βοΈ
Why shouldn't a perfectly normal workday turn into a little monkey business?
That personality became part of the brand.
And people connected with it.
From Windows to a Community
Shade Monkey specializes in residential and commercial window film, helping homeowners and businesses solve real problems:
βοΈ Too much heat
π Too much visibility
β¨ Too much glare
π Too much UV exposure
π‘ Not enough privacy
π¨ Or simply wanting their glass to look incredible
From frosted privacy films and Rain Glass textures to solar-control films and custom decorative designs, the goal has always been the same:
Find a solution that makes the customer say, "Why didn't I do this sooner?"
And some of the best projects aren't the biggest ones.
Sometimes it's a front door that finally gives a family privacy.
Sometimes it's a bonus room where visiting guests can finally feel comfortable.
Sometimes it's an office that needs privacy without sacrificing natural light.
And sometimes it's a completely unexpected project that makes you say...
"Well, this wasn't exactly in the monkey's original bag of tricks." π
Babcock Ranch Became Home
Then came Babcock Ranch.
A beautiful, growing community where Shade Monkey has had the opportunity to work, build relationships, and become part of the neighborhood.
The business wasn't built by trying to be everywhere.
It was built by showing up.
Doing good work.
Talking to people.
Answering the phone.
Giving honest consultations.
And letting the customers tell the story afterward.
That is how one project becomes two.
Two becomes six.
Six becomes thirteen referrals.
And suddenly you're standing there thinking:
"Holy crap... people actually believe in this little business."
And Then Came the Unexpected
The monkey has never been particularly good at staying inside the box.
Residential windows became commercial projects.
Commercial projects became decorative glass designs.
Then came Babcock's tramsβthe electric flat-glass people movers.
Shade Monkey doesn't tint cars.
But apparently, if it has flat glass, the monkey starts thinking. π
So the challenge was accepted.
Storms, wind, unusual glass, unusual circumstances...
Monkey business.
And that's really the story.
Not following the easiest path.
Finding a way.
The Real Secret
The biggest thing Shade Monkey has learned isn't about window film.
It's about people.
The customers who trust you.
The people who refer you.
The neighbors who recommend you.
The businesses that call you back.
The community that watches a tiny company grow.
Every referral is more than another job.
It's someone saying:
"I trust this person enough to send them to someone I care about."
That's something you can't buy with advertising.
You have to earn it.
More Than a Business β We're Building a Life Here Too
Somewhere along the way, Babcock Ranch stopped being just a place where Shade Monkey worked. It became home.
This community has become woven into our family's story in ways we never could have planned. Under the shadow of Innovation Tower, I asked the most important question of my life and got engaged. πβ€οΈ And on 8/8/26, that chapter became something even bigger...We got married. β€οΈ Our family continues to grow alongside this community, with my oldest son Jacob, and our kids Jemma and Alan, all becoming part of this crazy journey we're building together.
So when I say I'm grateful to be working in Babcock Ranch, I mean something much deeper than simply being grateful for the business.
We're building our life here.
We're watching the community grow.
We're raising our family.
We're building relationships.
We're building a business.
And we're making memories along the way.
That's why every job here feels a little different.
Every time the Shade Monkey truck rolls through Babcock Ranch, it's not just another service call.
It's another little piece of our family's story. ππβ€οΈ
And honestly...
I can't think of a better place for this little monkey business to grow.
And the Story Is Still Being Written
Today, Shade Monkey is still that same little monkey business...
Still answering the request line.
Still jumping from estimates to installations.
Still stopping to watch the clouds.
Still finding beauty in a piece of glass.
Still laughing.
Still experimenting.
Still saying yes to opportunities that sometimes sound completely bananas.
And still incredibly grateful.
Because this isn't just about window film anymore.
It's about the people, the community, the family, and the life we're building along the way.
We're just trying to keep doing great work, take care of our people, have some fun along the way...
and see how far this little monkey business can swing. ππ
No monkey business... except, of course, the monkey business. β€οΈ
