So the word came down! The FCC has done something never done before! It has retroactively removed authorizations on certain drones! As of August 30, 2026 you will no longer be able to purchase a Skyrover S1 or X1! However, if you already own one, it will not turn into a brick! You’ll still be able to fly it, just be careful because you won’t be able to get a replacement! I have no idea how the replacement insurance will work now! So the US Federal Government has again went overboard! There are no USA companies willing to take on the consumer drone industry with high quality products. Even the ones that make you think they’re American Made are still 95% made in China! And they suck compared to DJI, Autel, Anzu, FIMI and SkyRover!

FCC has proposed $25k fines to multiple drone manufacturing companies that MAY have direct ties to DJI which is on the covered list. Some of the drone companies include the Anzu Robotics and Skyrover which offers the extremely popular X1 & S1 drones. The fines have not been levied yet, they have until July 20, 2026, to respond to the inquiry the FCC put out to them. Anzu has pulled their product so that may not be an issue but Skyrover has gained so much popularity that if they ignore the FCC request then they may pull the authorization and we may not be able to legally fly them! So let's hope that this is not overlooked and these companies do the right thing so we can continue to enjoy quality flight!
