Premier SIPS: Structural Insulated Panels

Premier SIPS: Structural Insulated Panels Premier SIPS are a High Performance Building Envelope System that creates better buildings for everyone. Learn more at https://www.premiersips.com

A high performance building envelope system, Premier SIPS are an offsite construction upgrade for Architects and Builders throughout North America. Factory fabricated according to floor plans, large panels include precut openings, chases for electrical wiring, and are engineered with extreme precision and strength. Panels are delivered to jobsite for fast installation (average 55% faster), and off

er home/building owners energy savings (40-60%), healthier indoor environments, and stronger structures.

This California home would have been brutally expensive to build conventionally; almost none of its walls meet at a 90-degree angle.

Premier SIPS changed that math. Every angle was worked out in the shop drawings and manufactured into the walls, floors, and roof panels before anything reached the site, saving significant time on both labor and materials.

The result is an award-winning, 5,111 sq ft home that exceeds California's Title 24 and Cal-Green standards, with HVAC downsized by 65% because the envelope itself does the heavy lifting.

Beautiful and ruthlessly efficient. Happy Monday.

This house in Billings, Montana is stunning, and honestly kind of a marvel: no furnace, no air conditioner, no gas hookup, and no city water or sewer connection. It still produces more energy every year than it uses.

Designed by High Plains Architects around passive design principles, none of it works without the envelope holding up its end. SIP walls create a continuous, thermally efficient assembly with no gaps or thermal bridging for the swing between Montana's sub-zero winters and 90-degree summers to sneak through. That's what lets solar heat gain and everyday activity keep the house comfortable year-round, no backup furnace required.

The house became a Certified Living Building and earned LEED for Homes Platinum, one of the most rigorous double certifications a single-family home can achieve.

A commercial building in Downey, CA needed a quick install to meet local regulations and get operational fast.

The full structure (roof + walls + insulation + sheathing + WRB) went up in just 11 days with a 7-person crew and a crane—total dry-in: 13 days.

Speed wasn’t the only advantage. SIPs’ ability to span long distances with minimal support members let the structural engineer reduce steel and other structural elements across the design, simplifying one of the harder parts of navigating L.A. County’s strict code and permitting process.

Pre-planning between the design team and Premier from the start is what made both the speed and the engineering efficiency possible.

How important is ventilation in an airtight structure? Critical enough that it's not optional.

Since SIPs provide an extremely tight building envelope, there's less air moving in and out on its own. That's great for energy efficiency, but it also means the building can't rely on gaps and leaks to bring in fresh air anymore; mechanical ventilation has to do that job instead.

Controlled ventilation systems bring in fresh air and expel stale, moisture-laden air in managed amounts, filtering allergens and controlling humidity along the way.

Three materials go in. One solid panel comes out.

A Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) starts as three separate materials: two rigid OSB (oriented strand board) skins and a solid foam insulation core. Heat and pressure bond them together into a single structural panel, not separate materials stacked together on site like a conventional wall.

That consistency is the actual point. A panel bonded the same way every time performs the same way every time, on the hundredth job just like the first.

Project check-in from Northern California: "All going well, both two-story walls went up nicely. The floor system is being installed and finalized, and we should transition to second-story SIP walls in the next day or two." - Contractor/Owner

Another high-performing SIP structure coming to life. Updates straight from the field are our favorite way to start the week.

Think SIPs only work for boxy shapes or prefab kit homes? Every panel is CNC-cut to your exact architectural plans, not pulled from a catalog. Think custom cabinetry, not a kit home.

Just a few things that precision supports:

✓ Vaulted ceilings
✓ Cantilevers
✓ Corner windows
✓ Mixed wall thicknesses
✓ Deep overhangs

From clean modern lines to dramatic architectural features, SIPs are built around your design, not the other way around.

A 1958 church roof, built in an unusual accordion style, had been failing slowly for decades: weak shear strength, roof movement, and leaks that kept coming back no matter how many times it got patched.

St. Paul Episcopal Church in Kennewick, WA needed more than another patch. Crews removed the old roof entirely and replaced it with 5,328 sq ft of 8" Premier SIPS roof panels, topped with a new metal roof.

The result: significantly greater structural strength, real insulation value the original roof never had, and a roof built to stay leak-free for decades, not just until the next storm.

Preconstruction isn't just permits and schedules. It's the roadmap that reduces risk, improves quality, and prevents the change orders that blow up budgets later. Every detail sorted now means fewer surprises once crews are on site.

Most change orders trace back to something that didn't get decided early enough, a preconstruction gap, not a jobsite problem.

Offsite construction systems like SIPs shift a lot of that coordination out of the field and into the factory. Because SIPs are manufactured to the architectural plans before they ever reach the jobsite, quality control and precision get locked in ahead of time instead of depending on site conditions, crew, or weather. That's part of why SIP projects tend to see less installation time and less jobsite waste than conventional framing.
