🚪 A quick note about door-to-door pest control sales

Over the last couple weeks, we’ve had multiple customers reach out and tell us that door-to-door sales reps from national pest control companies have been making claims about Modern Pest Control that simply are not true.

Unfortunately, this happens in the pest control industry every year. This year it seems to be a little more aggressive than normal.

Fun fact: Those tiny “sugar ants” you see crawling around may be Odorous House Ants — and the few you see are usually just the scouts.

OHA colonies can have many queens, connect through multiple nesting sites, and grow into thousands — even tens of thousands — of ants. So when it looks like “just a small ant problem,” there may be a much larger colony hiding behind the scenes.

If you’re seeing ants more than once, don’t just keep wiping them up and hoping they quit. Modern Pest Control can help track the source, calm the issue down, and keep it from turning into a bigger problem.

Carpenter ant swarmer season is here in Western Washington.
If you've noticed large winged ants around your windows, doors, or outdoor lights recently, you're not alone. Late June is one of the most common times for mature carpenter ant colonies to release swarmers.
A few outside is normal.
Large numbers inside your home can be a warning sign that a colony may be nesting nearby or inside the structure.
Carpenter ants are especially attracted to moisture-damaged wood, crawlspaces, decks, and areas with chronic water intrusion.

The hotter it gets, the more active ant colonies can become.
This heavy trail is exactly why prevention matters. Ants usually don’t just “show up” inside — they’re often already moving around the outside of the home, looking for food, moisture, and entry points.
