SLC Excavating is excited to officially get started on a new project at U-Haul in Chambersburg, PA. This site was previously home to an existing building, and our crew is now hard at work transforming the area and laying the groundwork for the next phase of improvements.

Right now, our team is focused on preparing the site for upgraded paving and improved parking areas, helping create a more efficient and accessible space for customers and operations moving forward.

In this update, Dave Strawser checks in from the jobsite to walk through the early stages of the project and give a quick look at the progress so far. As always, it starts with solid groundwork, and our team is making sure everything is done right from the beginning.

We’re proud to partner with U-Haul on this project and help bring these improvements to life.

This week we’re proud to celebrate Women in Construction Week and recognize the women who help keep SLC Excavating moving forward every day....both on the jobsite and behind the scenes.

A huge thank you to Sarah, one of our skilled operators in the field, Adrienne, who keeps everything running smoothly as our construction accountant, and Kylie, our intern who is already showing the drive and passion that represents the future of our industry.

Construction has always been built on hard work, determination, and skill , qualities that know no gender. The women of SLC Excavating prove every day that the construction industry is a place where anyone willing to learn, work hard, and get their hands dirty can succeed.

To the next generation of women considering a career in construction: don’t be afraid to step into this field. There is opportunity, growth, and a strong team waiting for you.

SLC Excavating was proud to take part in ABC Keystone’s Construction Wars, helping introduce students to the world of construction and the opportunities within the skilled trades.

Events like this give the next generation a chance to see firsthand what goes into the work we do every day. From sitework to utilities and grading, we were excited to share how excavating plays a critical role in every construction project.

Investing time in students today helps build the workforce of tomorrow.

Work is moving forward at Veritas Academy in Leola, PA, and it’s exciting to see this next phase take shape.

This update captures our role in the school’s new addition, where the SLC Excavating team is handling excavation and grading, underground utilities, footers, and preparing the site for what comes next. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t always get the spotlight, but it’s essential to everything that follows.

Veritas Academy

We’re proud to be part of the next chapter at Veritas Academy, where students, educators, and community partners recently gathered to celebrate the start of a 32,000 sq. ft. campus expansion. This project will bring new classrooms and a thoughtfully designed gymnasium—creating more room for learning, growth, and connection every single day.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support a project so deeply rooted in education and community, and to work alongside great partners like Warfel Construction. Thank you to Veritas Academy for trusting us to help lay the groundwork for what’s ahead. We’re excited to watch this vision come to life.

This past Friday, our president Kevin Eshleman was officially sworn in to the Board of Directors for ABC Keystone during their Inaugural Gala and Annual Meeting. It’s an honor to see Kevin step into this role alongside an outstanding group of industry leaders who are committed to strengthening the construction industry and advancing the merit shop philosophy.

Congratulations to the entire 2026 Executive Committee and Board of Directors. We’re excited for the year ahead and grateful for the leadership, dedication, and vision that will continue moving our industry forward.

We’re digging into the new year with gratitude, excitement, and a whole lot of momentum. Last year laid a solid foundation, one trench, one site, and one project at a time and we couldn’t have done it without an incredible team and partners who trust us to get things started the right way.

At SLC Excavating, we take pride in doing the groundwork that makes everything else possible. Through mud, rock, weather delays, and early mornings, our crew kept pushing forward and moving earth with purpose. That’s something we don’t take lightly.

As we break ground on a new year, we’re ready to keep building from the bottom up, tackling challenges head-on, and continuing to move projects in the right direction. Thanks for sticking with us ...here’s to another year of solid ground, steady progress, and getting our hands dirty doing what we do best.

As we wrap up another year, we can’t help but reflect on how much ground we’ve covered together. From early mornings in the dirt to long days making sure every job is done right, none of it would be possible without our incredible crew, trusted partners, and supportive communities.
