Was especially moved by this group of veterans / bikers who came in a unofficial role, simply wanted to join in alongside the spectators at the ceremony, no recognition needed.

• Brought their own flag.

• Stood throughout.

• Honored those who’d fallen.

Not every pass will go for a touchdown.

Not every pass will even be complete.

If you want to score points, and take shots down the field, it will even mean you’ll throw some picks from time to time.

You very great QB has done it.

Balls get tipped.

Receivers run bad routes or have it bounce off their hands.

Sometimes the QBs make bad reads, under throw, or overthrow.

It’s part of the game, part of the process.

So, if a pass falls incomplete or gets picked off - move on to the next play.

Watch the film and study the defense and learn from it later.But right now - move to the next play.

If you want to score points you have to be willing to take some shots and that means throwing some picks from time to time.

Stick with your process. Incomplete’s and picks are simply part of the game.

“Find a way!”

That’s the mantra Diana Nyad adopted for her 5th attempt to do something no human had ever done before; swim 103 miles from Cuba to Florida!

See my last post for more details, but in short...

• Her quest spanned 36 years

• Included 4 failures

• Was filled with disappointment and difficulty

But she still...

FOUND A WAY!

You can read more about her in my book, More Fit 4 The Kingdom. But the point I want to make today is:

• No matter how well thought out your plans and strategies are, life throws variables at you.

• You’ve got to be ready to adjust, modify, rethink your strategy.

• Sometimes you might even have to start over.

BUT DON’T QUIT!

If you have a goal and you believe in it, don’t give up on it.

Wanted to add my voice of gratitude to the many others who honor those whose service has helped protect and provide freedom here at home and to offer it to many abroad.

Very grateful for our veterans and the work they’ve done in the armed forces - most of which is unheralded and unrecognized.

What principles have you found work across the board?

In my experience, if you’ve found something that helps you gain strength in the weight room, it’ll also help you gain strength in the family room, or the board room, or anywhere else you’re looking to get more fit!

It’s just a matter of applying it correctly.

So, don’t start by attempting to reinvent the wheel or by searching for some magical solution. First look for tried and true principles that have already given YOU power and then apply them to the areas that need it most!

It’s a powerful message we all can apply.
 
It’s not about perfectionism; it’s about healthy strivings to become our best self.
 
It’s not that we’re not enough; it’s that we feel like we want to advance.
 
What will it take?
 
Time.
Consistency.
Sacrifice.
Discipline.
 
Yeah, that means hard work.
 
But when you really want to level up, the hard work is irrelevant.

Fitness programs and healthy strivings – whether they be professional, physical, spiritual, or social – that add too much too quick, result in:
 
• Injury
 
Or
 
• Fatigue
 
Both put an end to progression.
 
If not careful, we can easily become discouraged with self-improvement efforts and the seemingly never-ending list of things to work on.
 
So, figure out where you want to go and why and create your strategy to become that type of person.

But travel in LITTLE, steady, incremental steps know that time is always the ally of consistency!

We often hear the term “Dig Deep” used in sports to mean - “push through!” But defines it differently.

She explains how people “D.I.G. Deep:”

• D: They get DELIBERATE in their thoughts and behaviors through prayer, meditation, or simply by setting intentions

• I: They get INSPIRED to make new and different choices

• G: They get GOING. They take action.

This is good to remember in all 4 Factors of Fitness, but consider this question for your social component.

• What factor do you need to D.I.G. Deep into?

Chances are an obvious answer comes right away!

Make a plan.

Develop a strategy.

And if your plan needs adjustments - have the courage to adjust it!

The next one is more difficult. Sometimes you need to make concessions as well.

I know.

That sounds awful. That’s sounds like losing.

But it’s not. Choosing to adjust your plans or even concede that part of plan won’t work part of leadership, on and off the court.

That adjustment and concession then becomes the basis of your new and improved plan and strategy to move forward!

Have the courage to adjust and even make concessions in your efforts to progress. The data developed from such coaching sessions keeps you moving forward in a system of excellence and self improvement.

What are you spending your time on?

asks this in his book “Raise Your Game.”

If it’s not your own attitude or your own effort - and you’re hoping to create change - you will have little impact.

On the other hand, working on your own attitude and effort will increase your ability influence the other parts of life that are outside your direct control.

“Learning to control the controllables is imperative to maximize if performance.” - Alan Stein, Jr.

That’s right.
Attitude. Effort.

Don’t get distracted or discouraged by things you can’t control.
