We love this industry! Shoutout to the engineers, riggers, PMs, foreman and the boot strap guys who build our city and all that we enjoy! When we see this screen we know what took part in making it real.
Is the Mets’ new videoboard too big?
In the stadium screen arms race, there are diminishing marginal returns; virtually all but those in Baltimore and Tampa are sufficient size. 7000 sf vs 10,000 sf, it’s all good.
But what about baseball’s new biggest video board at Citi Field, in what is positively sensory overload and dwarfs the outfield? I think it pushes the limit. It also fights the retro-classic aesthetic of the ballpark, making an already incoherent ballpark even more incoherent.
