A perspective piece from the Biotia team and key research collaborators from New York, Rio de Janeiro, and Hamburg has now been published in Cell Reports Sustainability (Cell Reports). The article, entitled "The challenges and opportunities in creating a One Health warning system for pandemics," reflects on the lessons learned from implementing our GeoSeeq plaform for outbreak detection and pandemic preparedness in response to dengue virus 🦟 in Brazil.

Traditional UTI diagnostics rely on a technique created in the 1800’s. Doctors and researchers alike are increasingly recognizing the limitations of urine culture.

With advances in molecular biology, new techniques for diagnosing UTIs are becoming available. Next-generation sequencing is the most powerful among them, with the ability to detect all pathogen DNA in a patient’s urine sample from a single test.

When fungal diseases are misdiagnosed as bacterial infections, this often leads to patients waiting longer for effective treatment and increasing their risk of complications.
