Monument job recently completed handrails. The upper level rails are all new and the lowers are mostly new. However the balusters are a mixture of old originals made of heart pine and new ones that are made from Accoya product. All new balusters were turned by hand.

This project is going a little slow but turning out great!!! Handrails should be going in next week. Very excited to see it all coming together. I have hand turned roughly 130 balusters for this project and am currently finishing up the custom mill work on the rails. All of the handrails have been done to look as close to the original handrails that would have been on this house, with the exception that we had to elongate the balusters in order to make the handrail height meet modern safety code requirements. All of the porch flooring, handrails, and newel posts have been made out of Accoya lumber. This will insure that they will last for many years to come. Accoya gives a 50 year non-ground contact and 25 year ground contact warranty on the materials if their product is installed per their requirements. You must also register the product and install with Accoya in order to receive the warranty.

However this project will continue past the handrails as the homeowners have decided to have us remodel the front yard as well. So more brick work, landscaping, and metal fabrication is to come.

It’s spring again and we are in search for extra hands. Looking for trustworthy/hardworking people to join the team.

Applicant should have some experience in the trades. Skills in carpentry/woodworking or painting will be extremely helpful.

We do restoration and repair work to older homes in the Richmond metro area. Most of the work is in “The Fan” or “Church Hill” areas. Our shop is in New Kent county however and there will be days that will require time to be spent out there as well.

We are also looking for sub-contractors! If you are an independent tradesman who is licensed/insured and takes pride in their work, then I want to talk with you. Lots of work lining up and I need more guys to get it done.
