I have upgraded my Remote Access service to a better and more streamlined service and am ready to help anyone I can even on days I can't make it out of the house. Snow, Rain, Heat, it doesn't matter.

This story checks out.
Other countries are using this as the backbone for their own similar laws. I agree whole hearted with this. Repair should be the way but companies, primarily Apple and Samsung are making it harder to repair but easier for something to break. Rather than build them more robust and durable, they make things like flaky Power Management circuits so that you have no choice but to upgrade your 3 year old paperweight.

Apple was fined $27 million in France for slowing older iPhones. In any other country, they would have gotten away with it.

France became the first country to make planned obsolescence a criminal offense. Any manufacturer that deliberately shortens a product's lifespan faces up to two years in prison, a €300,000 fine, or up to 5% of annual revenue. The nonprofit HOP, founded by activist Laetitia Vasseur, pushed for years to make it happen.

In 2020, Apple was fined $27 million for intentionally slowing older iPhones and forced to post a public admission on its website for a month. France also introduced a mandatory Repairability Index: every smartphone, laptop, and appliance now carries a score from 1 to 10 showing how easy it is to fix. A national Repair Fund subsidizes repairs to make fixing cheaper than replacing.

No other country has gone this far, and the EU is now working on similar legislation.

I am in agreement with the majority of the points presented in this article, which aligns with my experience of dealing with both options over the past decade.

A reminder that unless you 100% know who your are dealing with, never give out your account information but also remember that once you give it to someone, their security standards might not be the same as your and make you vulnerable through them.
Never share you information is always the best approach to any and all of you personal information. PERIOD.
