Whether it's working with salespeople, distributors, end users, or even stomping around manure pits, Colin's role as an Applications Engineer is all about solving problems and helping customers succeed.

Engineering doesn't always happen behind a desk. Sometimes it means getting out in the field to see applications firsthand, and other times it's representing Twin Disc at trade shows, building relationships and helping customers find the right solutions.

In 1919, after returning home from World War I military service, Soren Sorenson was preparing to take a job elsewhere. A chance meeting with Twin Disc founder P.H. Batten changed everything.

Sorenson joined Twin Disc that very day, becoming the company's ninth employee and beginning a legacy that would help shape who Twin Disc is today.

Over the following decades, he witnessed and helped shape nearly every major chapter in Twin Disc's early growth. From the company's early diversification into construction and industrial markets to the development of marine propulsion systems, hydraulic torque converters, and wartime manufacturing, Sorenson played a key role in building the foundation of the company we know today.

His leadership eventually led him to the role of Vice President-Manufacturing, service on the Board of Directors, and later appointments as consultant and Director Emeritus. Equally important, he became one of Twin Disc's most valuable historians, preserving firsthand accounts of the people, challenges, and innovations that defined the company's early years.

More than a century after he first walked through Twin Disc's doors, his legacy continues to be felt throughout the organization. Today, a conference room bearing his name serves as a reminder of a remarkable career, a commitment to excellence, and the lasting impact one person can have on a company's history.
