Sometimes the best reminder for living well comes from the simplest places — even an old watch. Today’s post explores why we can’t (and shouldn’t) try to turn time backward, and how a simple habit of envisioning the future can set up a better day, a better week, and a better life.

In our Leadership Update newsletter, Dr. David Weiman shares about a decision many organizations face: When does it make sense to invest in executive coaching?

Coaching can help a leader improve performance, prepare for greater responsibility, or work through the challenges of a senior role. But it’s also a significant investment of time, attention, and resources. Before hiring a coach, I suggest answering two important questions.

What’s the purpose of the coaching? And what evidence is there that the person is likely to benefit from it?

In this month’s Leadership Update, we look at both questions, including the signs that someone may be ready to make good use of coaching, and one that may suggest otherwise.

If you're on our list, you would have received the October Newsletter earlier this month.

“Everything a person does during an assessment process is a sample of behavior.”

During nearly 30 years of experience doing pre-hire assessments, there are a few behavioral patterns we’ve seen that reveal more about a candidate than their résumé or interview answers could.

Read this article for three areas where paying attention to subtle cues can improve your hiring decisions.

A professor of mine in grad school at Penn once said, “Everything a person does during an assessment process is a sample of behavior.” He meant that beyond just listening to answers, we should observe how a person interacts with the entire process, because that behavior is also meaningful.

One of the most frequent questions we get is, "How long is a typical coaching engagement?"

Our answer: It depends on the needs of the client.

A complete program is typically 6 months, following an assessment and feedback. However, we work with many clients "as needed." Much like you might call on an attorney or financial advisor, you call us when you need us. And when you do, we're ready to help.
