✨Beanie Season! Or do you say toboggan?

Was gifted a hanging hat rack and it was just the thing we needed! You see, we re-organized my daughter’s room and this hanger has freed up a bin to use elsewhere.

✨NEW DESK SETUP sparking joy all day!

Moved a 13” cube unit from my daughter’s room to the double desk. The gratification was instant as my stickers, notebooks, and supplies are now easier to access. Cables are “neatly” nestled in their own cube. Not to mention I am no longer hitting my knees on the printer!

2 cubes are not being used AND THAT’S OK! I’m a huge advocate for getting creative and shopping your home first when organizing. Just like life, you already have everything you need. 😌

✨✨✨

What’s your desk setup?! Has it changed? Dm or tag me, I’d love to see it!

✨ON STANDBY: Christmas

With good tidings and intentions we wait until after the holidays to edit decorations. I propose the challenge … WHY WAIT? The season can be as exhausting as it is fun and most unused decor remains in their original boxes, bottoms of bins or stuffed in grocery bags. Prepping for the season beforehand by editing and organizing makes the end of season run a little smoother.

✨Productivity > Polish

I, too, felt I couldn’t organize without the right basket, special bin, perfect container. Those cost money, time to shop it, hours to make the money to save then shop… SO, I never organized.

“To know what storage solutions you need you must second know what you have to store. To know what you have to store you must first rid thyself of what you do NOT need to store.” -Me

After editing the items in my cabinet, I found I do not need hooks for mugs, because my mugs now live in a lower cabinet. I do not need shelves inserts for all of my plates, because we have very few every day plates and the stoneware lives in its own cabinet. The only bin used was from my daughter’s sock drawer and now holds the cheese shredder, apple slicer, and mandolin blade. Done and done. There’s always opportunity after editing to add storage product, but honestly,
no new product needed here!

✨ How it started… sorta. After my initial editing of my childhood closet (not pictured), moving into my first home 3 years later, and realizing my partner and I would be sharing a closet and 2 dressers, I knew I had to downsize my wardrobe.

I started editing my hanging clothes first. My secret goal was to hang as much as I could so I could KEEP as much I could. This became unnecessary for after getting rid of anything too small, and formal and business casual clothing, I had ample room to hang pieces I always wanted to hang like sweatshirts and pants. The game changer was the velvet hangers. Strong, thin, and the singular black color elevated my clothing instantly. Happy to report 2 years later my closet looks this way daily.

✨PAPELES are like weeds. If you let them grow it’s much harder to get rid of them!

Here is my very old and very flimsy plastic file folder. Bought in college as a good faith adult purchase. A few years later, it doesn’t not hold up nor does it hold very important documents. I invested in a sturdy hanging file folder bin and decided it was all the room I would make for important docs. Making. A boundary like this helps when you want to decrease the amount of documents in your home. It easily houses everything I may need to reference. It’s not pretty but it’s done!

✨DEEP SHELVES, BEAUTIFUL STORAGE.

Deep shelves and cabinets are so great and yet so difficult. Items get moved around so much you don’t know what you need, what you have expires, and often things break, spill, or worse…critters move in. My solution is BASKETS. Combine like pantry items together by use or type. Resist the urge to fill the corners of the shelves. SPACE is ok! If you need that space use it for unopened backstock. Here the corners hold pasta boxes and canned foods.

✨RULE #1 One in. One Out.✨
I was gifted this beautiful orange travel mug (thx ), but knew what I had to do once I returned home… choose a mug to donate. The one in, one out rule is helpful so you don’t have to find new spaces for the the new item. The mug can live where the older mug did and the cabinet where they live stays organized. While I was there, I decided to bring a matching glass water bottle into rotation and thought might as well follow the rule!

Is this a rule that helps you to stay organized or do you have another?

✨Yes, that is a pot holding up the wall on the right. 🤦‍♀️ Do you have an awkward corner cabinet? I have seen some great solutions to the long corner cabinet (lazy Susan’s, turntables, new fangled metal racks that beautifully roll in and out) BUT sometimes all your cabinets need is T.L.C, a little editing and they work just fine. Respect the capacity of your space y’all! ✨✨✨
