The North Carolina African American Heritage Commission and its partner, the North Carolina Museum of Art, are seeking a community-engaged artist for Africa to Carolina, a semi-finalist project of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation’s Inclusive Public Art Initiative. The artist will collaborate with communities to design a public art piece commemorating the lives and lasting legacies of those who disembarked from the African continent onto North Carolina’s coastal shores.

A stipend of $2,000 will be provided to the selected artist as compensation for Phase I, and the artist will be reimbursed for mileage and lodging. This funding will be provided by the NC Museum of Art.
