Two parents CANNOT claim the same child in the same tax year. Only ONE parent is allowed — period.

The only way a non-custodial parent can claim a child is if the custodial parent signs Form 8332. And even then, it’s Child Tax Credit ONLY — not Head of Household, not Earned Income Credit.

And let’s clear up this bogus rumor going around 🙄
❌ Paying child support does NOT mean you can claim the child. That’s false.

👉 If you think the other parent might try anyway or you want to shut down the confusion completely, the easiest fix is getting an IP PIN for your child. That locks their SSN so no one else can claim them.
